Worked out fine with Laine falling into our lap. Now we have Rein and Laine who is better than MM.More like Hab fans are gloating like crazy over Demidov because they know they done f***ed up picking Reinbacher.

Not that it isn't still impressive but the quality of the KHL has declined a noticeable amount the last ~5 years. There's a reason that all of these records have been repeatedly broken recently.People don't realize Demidov will probably have the best season ever in the KHL for an U20. And that includes players like Ovi, Malkin, Kucherov, Panarin, Kaprizov, etc.
Oh and he's doing it at an even younger age.
i personaly think he will be a top 10 player (and more) in the league for years to come

I'd still probably take Schaefer or Hagens over Demidov right now but it also is close enough that it would be team specific and for MTL, I think Demidov is the best fit.
I agreeI honestly don't think a single NHL GM would take Hagens over Demidov, not 1! In fact, i think Hagens will probably go between the 4-8th pick. But i'm not here to convince anyone on how good Demidov is. I think that when all is said and done, Demidov will be one of the best of his generation. I don't tend to agree very often with the overconfident typical Habs fan, but on this one... Oh my, will he be one special player!
Three NHL teams last season picked an objectively worse player instead of Demidov. On talent I'd take Demidov over any 2025 forward, but NHL GMs probably wouldn't.I honestly don't think a single NHL GM would take Hagens over Demidov, not 1! Yep. Center vs. winger alone makes a huge difference even before you get into the "Russian Factor". It's also not like Hagens is some bum, you could very easily argue that his D+0 year is more impressive than Demidov's.Three NHL teams last season picked an objectively worse player instead of Demidov. You serious or is this crack?Celebrini is good but Demidov should've been 1st overall last year and would easily be this year. The number of teams scared of drafting Russians just blows my mind. Still can't believe both Michkov and Demidov fell like they did.
Ah yes, the safer picks of an unprecedented Belarusian NCAA defenseman with hockey IQ questions, Quentin Musty On Crack, and Guy With Back Issues. He was considered very talented, but was still playing in the Russia Junior League. Unlike Michkov who had KHL experience at only 16. GMs didn't know how well he would play against bigger guys. At 17, he was listed at 5'11 and a year later, 6'1. So they went with what they thought would be the safer pick.
I'd rather have the better players, personally. Can always sort out the rest later with trades. You don't get it?
Instead of surrounding the core of
Suzuki 5-11 207
Caufield 5-8 175
Hutson 5-9 162
With players like
Dach - 6-4 220
Slaf - 6'3-225
Laine - 6'4-208
Reinbacher - 6'3-207
We could have surrounded them with
Frank Nazar - 5'10 - 190
Logan Cooley 6' 191
Matvei Michkov - 5'10 - 172
And had an entire core of players below 6 feet tall and 190 lbs.
yeah just have to fleece 3 gms in 3 separate trades in order to get 3 better players with size than what we have.I'd rather have the better players, personally. Can always sort out the rest later with trades.
You most certainly wouldn't have to fleece 3 different GMs to get a Dach, Laine, and Slaf for the players you have mentioned, the other GM would be doing the fleecing in that case. Dach isn't worth much, Laine went for nothing, and Slafs value diminishes by the game. You could replace all 3 of those guys pretty easily, with better players.yeah just have to fleece 3 gms in 3 separate trades in order to get 3 better players with size than what we have.
and that is assuming our players arent already the better players right now. Zero need for MM with caufield, laine demi and slaf
cooley would be a great add to this roster but 2c can be found via trade or ufa every season.
nazar , we have hage.
