Ivan Demidov vs 2025 1oa

This highly skilled stud muffin was drafted 5OA and so far has justified that ranking, and then some. How much would a team be willing to shell out for one of, if not the, most prized asset not currently in the NHL?

Would a team drafting 1OA in 2025 do a one for one swap?

Why? Sorry just noticed the date.

So, I waited too long to think on this.

I don't have a single player in this draft above Demidov.
The thing is Demidov is a winger. Schaefer is projected as a player similar to Dahlin or Heiskanen. How many wingers in the league provide more value than those 2? If we are talking about someone like Pasta or Kucherov than for sure, but if he's more like Clayton Keller or Jake Guentzel then probably not. If he becomes Nylander than it's probably a toss up.

Misa and Hagens are centers who naturally carry more value than wingers so. Misa is viewed by some scouts as a generational talent who could be similar to Barkov or Eichel, and Hagens is compared to Jack Hughes.

The problem is that we have NO IDEA how good Demigod is until he laces them up and we get a years worth to see what he can do.

Even then, it took Lafleur 3 years to become a legend.

Would I trade him? Sure, everyone has a price. Celebrini would be a fair trade only because I think that Demidov will have a higher ceiling, but then, this is a highest risk trade one can make.

I feel like Montreal screwed up not taking michkov. Having 2 dynamic Russians and michkov already an impact player was a missed opportunity.
I'm not worried about the talent level, I'm worried that Rein is damaged goods.

Even if we needed an RHD, the smart play was to draft Michkov, let him play a season then his market value would be pretty much any young top grade RHD if a team wanted to increase scoring. If Isles wanted scoring, Michkov is worth more then Dobson. Or Faber.

Hughes pooched it on that but he's getting to be a bit teflon man by some Hab fans.

And Demidov is projected as a player similar to Kaprizov...

Habs fans are so lucky lol, they're gonna have another dynasty after the one they just had with Poehling, Mete, Kotkaniemi and Juulsen... kidding aside Demidov is going to be a star. The habs are having a great rebuild.

He's projected to be a top 5 winger in the world?
A few scouts have said the word they got out of Russia is he's significantly ahead of kaprizov at the same age age fiftt percent better than michkov was last year and lacks the holes in his game the former two have.

So yeah his top end potential is closer to kucherocv.

Michkov had better PPG than Demidov and played for a team that scored half goals Demidov's SKA did, though...

Looks at points per minute. Demidov essentially played 10 games less than michkov. And the fact that michkov got first wave pp time and Demidov never got regular pp time all season, in addition to being dressed to play 1-3 minutes 20 times.

This is actual scouts in Russia saying this, not Habs fans. The report was saying michkov wasn't close to demidov is comparing their d+1 seasons. Essentially they said Demidov is the best Russian d+1 prospect since ovi/Malkin and is better than they were at that age. High end kaprizov is the comp.

Sochi's PP to SKA PP was like Flyers PP to Montreal PP right now, and as I said Sochi scored way less goals than SKA so TOI doesn't always mean a lot. Demidov played big minutes at the end of the regular, but didn't score a lot of points.

Habs could have done that at draft last year and passed. Plus got 34th pick last draft.
