Don't see how his IQ can be that much better than Suzuki and Hutson. If it is then he is superstar level.
I think his progression so far is how dynamic he is, when he has the puck it's more of his game than anyone else on the ice, but once he starts passing they're definitely elite.

Suzuki and caufield are smart in their ways and structured in NHL, demidov would make suzuki a 1C by a stretch

His IQ is much better than Suzuki’s. Hutson is a D so I won’t insist on this point, it’s apples and oranges. But I can say that Demidov plays a more complex game using more unconventional layer’s than Hutson’s.

IMO, while Demidov has all the tools to play as a dynamic C, his ability to get lost on the ice as a winger, only to reappear where the play had been heading all along, is something that would be lost if he played as a pivot.

Playing as a winger doesn't deny him quality pass options which he can exploit from that position s much as he would from a C role.

What I like from watching Demidov's highlights is that he isn't a one or two magic trick pony. Plays seem to develop organically from what is before him and little gets telegraphed, if any. There isn't much repetition and opponents genuinely have absolutely no idea what Demidov is about to do.

Special player.

Habs fans finally get a player worth something special.

having watched the Celebrini-Hutson show, I can say that I can not wait to see the Demidov-Hutson show next year, it's going to be epic.

I know slaf is up and down right now but the kid is tracking to becoming an ELITE winger in the NHL in a year or two, and I’ve RIPPED on him for a while
Now.
I'm not sure what tracking means.

He has to actually be a good hockey player to be one of the best wingers in the league.

We'll see how good of a power forward he can become.

He is absolutely a superstar. Yes. As phenomenal as those two are demidov is better. No question about it.
Just because he will likely be a better player does not mean that he has a higher IQ. Both Hutson and Suzuki are elite in that regard. Demidov obviously has the better overall skillset and what appears to be a high IQ but to claim that it is definitively better than Suzuki or Hutson is nonsensical if that was the assertion that was being made.

All I will say is Demidov appears to have high hockey IQ. I would not compare it to anybody in the NHL yet. The KHL does have a bit more time and space and less physical players than the NHL. Not trying to take anything away from Demidov but he will have to adjust to less time and space and more physical players. Especially on the D side. Those NHL defenseman are very good at what they do. Much better than the KHL IMO.

I have faith Demidov's will power to overcome challenges will prevail. This is a huge area of development and both Caufield and Hutson have it.

A reasoned and cautionary response.

Better to play the conservative side than the optimistic side. Demidov will provide an offensive impact no doubt. But he will also have to adjust to less time and space and more physical players at the same time. He's got that "it" factor like Caufield and Hutson. Suzuki didn't have that it factor. He had a great CHL season but developed from the 4th line up once he played NHL games. A very smart player... one of the smartest in the NHL. We would be very lucky if Demidov is as smart as Suzuki but has the it factor like Caufield/Hutson. That would make Demidov a star

We owe it to Demidov and we also owe it to Suzuki to find a very good 2C sooner rather than later. Not sure I like waiting for Hage as our only 2C option. And I'm a big fan of Hage's potential too

The more I think about it, the more I am concerned with the Habs wasting Suzuki prime years like we did with Price. I don't care if it's a Dubois or Horvat type... go get a reliable 2C. We need that more than our top 4RD IMO.
