If Hughes plays the 4 Nations, I'd be pretty pissed. He has a contractual obligation to this team. I get that we're trying to keep him happy, but at the end of the day management is going for the playoffs and they won't get there without Hughes in the lineup.

Hughes has been definitely playing through an injury but because our defense is so ass he forced himself to play.
Now that we have M Pettersson and D Petey looking good it’s easier to convince Hughes to rest. I just hope he doesn’t waste the rest by playing in the donkey Four Nations tournament.

Well, remember, he had led the KHL in d man scoring just previously but, yeah, he was BAD!This is so on point it's unbelievable.
But of course the even more unbelievable thing was, as you know, our team at the time thought Larsen, who was so bad he couldn't even cut it for Hall/Eberle OILERS defense, was the solution to our powerplay.

I figure this could be a better overall game because the players have nobody Hughes) to lean on for carrying the puck and help in scoring.
On most teams where there is a superior skilled player a lot of others settle into just trying to make sure they aren't scored against. The Oilers had this problem for a few years when McD or Dras were hurt. No secondary scoring. Worse when it is a dman/rover because too many get settled in or just haven't done it enough are rusty.
Tocchet's system should keep it close, play not to lose.
The players will know the extent of Hughes injury, some of them anyway.
Who can read lips? Watch the Dallas game and some other tid bits.

Here's hoping Demko continues to improve. Getting him back to Vezina form would be huge. Extremely important to know where we are at with Demko going into next season.

Nobody will say anything to Hughes but missing a couple of games when the team is in a playoff push and then going on to play 3-4 games for team USA will surely spark some more drama here lol
Gave Dallas nothing, deserved to win Demko again the difference.
Completely dominate the wings, Lankinen 3 goals on like 15 shots and piss poor reffing another loss snatched from the jaws of victory. I'm ok with Demko starting, hes gonna have another long layoff with the break coming up which is exactly what he doesn't need.
My problem is if the forward groups stay the same, I don't understand what Tochett is thinking.
Not only has the top six constantly a blender which is just stupid but he actively keeps EP away from the wingers he's actually looked good with.
Sherwood, Debrusk, was the line where EP popped off and recently Hogz and Linus. Pick a pair and stick to it and let them gel ffs,
Joshua literally drags any line down at this point and needs to be in Abby and Raty who has been on fire in Abby deserves to be in the lineup over him.
Hogz for weeks now has been busting his ass doing all the staple cliches Tochett inandates us with after every loss but still gets used sparingly.

The lines don't have to look exactly like that but those are the best 12 forwards we have until Lekkerimakki is healthy who despite his defence needing work should be playing here considering we are like 30th in goals since December.
