I agree with you mostly. Bedard is hella overated. He is a small center with a great shot that plays like a winger. His playmaking abilities are not close to Demidov as I believe Demidov hockey IQ is higher.
Bedard probably is above average in playmaking skills because he's been a shoot first player during all of his career. He relied on it for the major part of his life, he needs to upgrade his passing skills in the NHL to be able to produce like an elite player which he clearly is not at this moment.
between 70 to 90 points/year will be his peak imo, far from generational. If you guys want elite/generational playmaking abilities, think about Nikita Kucherov. Bedard is nowhere close to that.
