That’s one hell of a take.
I think it's a strange take. At his peak, with decent teammates he will probably be a 100 point player several years, with a ceiling close to 130. Now I think Demidov has a ceiling very close to that, something like 90/95 several years and a ceiling close to 120 What differentiates Bedard from Demidov is the absurd shot that Connor has.

The difference between Bedard and Celebrini in the NHL is that right now Celebrini has been shooting the puck from better spots than Bedard. Celebrini does a give and go and shakes the Ds cover.
The fact Bedard’s shot is so outstanding is a double edged sword as he never needed to find creative tricks to score in the Minors like Celebrini. It’s much harder to get your shot off in the NHL. Bedard will need to tweak his game.

What I recall of Bedard's hype was that he had one of the best shots in the world. So it makes sense that he has a shooter's instinct. It's also the case that in Chicago he may not have anybody to pass to, so it's impossible for his playmaking to develop.

Demidov doesn’t have Bedard’s shot for sure. Although I was not clear, the point I was trying to make is that Bedard needs to maximize his shot at the NHL level. I feel that’s the way he can grow his offensive production the most. It’s also the fastest way for him to prove Bombshell11 wrong.

@Bombshell11 has out-there takes but at least they're his own takes. He watches the prospects rather than filtering comments from filtered comments of other people who watch prospects.
He didn't just rank Mesar as a top ten player of his draft, I think he was also early in highly rankings Slafkovsky and Hutson.

There may be some truth to that but Bedard is an extremely smart player and his linemates are far from ideal. Tyler Bertuzzi is a low IQ player who doesn't work well with give and go scenarios and his other winger is Nazar who is a rookie.
Celebrini has Eklund who is creative and extremely offensively gifted and started breaking out last season as well as Toffoli who has brains for days..
I have always compared Celebrini to Crosby and Bedard to Sakic, obviously not in an identical sense but more of a stylistic/impact sense.
They are both great and I might even lean slightly in Celebrini's favour but it is definitely waaaaaay to early to reach any definitive answer.

He's peeking at 19 because he's short, weak, a bad defender and he's getting the most Ice time of his team and plays the full PP minutes in every game.
There will come a time where the honeymoon ends, better teammates will join and will out rank him because he's just not that guy.
My thoughts and opinion
It's interesting that you equate his situation to a "honeymoon"...
I'd bet it's closer to a nightmare for a competitive & driven athlete like he clearly is.

I agree with you mostly. Bedard is hella overated. He is a small center with a great shot that plays like a winger. His playmaking abilities are not close to Demidov as I believe Demidov hockey IQ is higher.
Bedard probably is above average in playmaking skills because he's been a shoot first player during all of his career. He relied on it for the major part of his life, he needs to upgrade his passing skills in the NHL to be able to produce like an elite player which he clearly is not at this moment.
between 70 to 90 points/year will be his peak imo, far from generational. If you guys want elite/generational playmaking abilities, think about Nikita Kucherov. Bedard is nowhere close to that.
As for Celebrini vs Bedard, give me Celebrini to try to win a cup.

True. The poor guy was stuck on Regina for years where the ahole owner wouldn't try to build a winner and kept him to keep attendance up. Now he is stuck on the Hawks who are years away from contending. Should have refused to report to Chicago.

Simple. Two reasons.
1- The teams were always great. Rookies that were talented enough to crack the lineup always started lower down in the lines, which of course lessened the possibility to produce enough for serious Calder consideration.
2- Since the Dynasty ended in 1980, the drafting and development of the prospects has been sub par (being generous), so no one who came along, apart from a goalie here or there, was impactful enough to be considered as legit Calder candidates.
With Hutson, and Demidov coming along, the story might be changing.

Bedard is 19 years old and is just under a ppg with 101 pts in 113 gms despite not having quality wingers on a talent bereft team. He has almost twice as many assists as he does goals despite his terrible situation and already is a high end playmaker who will very likely be elite.
The hot takes around here are astonishing....Let's pray that this fan-base can keep a level head about Demidov next year.
