What’s an eye opener for me is that Celibrini’s game has transitioned in some way better than Bedard’s. And there was no crazy generational talk for Celebrini, unlike Bedard.

An example of game better suited for the NHL is when Celebrini always looks for a pass after a controlled blue line entry. Bedard looks for a shot. In Juniors Ds backed up and gave him the shot. Or they tried stuffing him and Bedard just skated around them for a breakaway. But in the NHL he gets stuffed and D’s are quick enough to not let him skate around them.

If he’s really generational Bedard will need to find new tricks to compensate.

Yeah that’s what I’m saying

Bolded is batshit crazy

Ok so if it happens, what then?

Bedard might have been the most exceptional Junior player ever. He has tools that are maximized against players that level. I think that’s where he was considered generational. While he’s a star, he seems to have had a bit more difficulty transitioning to the NHL than other “generational” players who also killed Juniors like Lemieux, Crosby and McDavid.

I would call Bedard's case, the lockdown case.

In my opinion he'll never be better than what he is right now.

seems like you have positive opinions on SKA's role in Demidov's development. can you share your perspective?

Has common sense left the building?

Rotenberg's roster management is a farce, but SKA's development staff under Daniel Bochner have put countless hours into Demidov the last 4 years.....and that's in addition to his normal coaches, strength and conditioning staff, etc. etc.

Vanya is a sensational talent, but you think he just magically developed all by himself?

I know it's fashionable to rip on Russia/KHL/SKA, but Montreal will benefit immensely from all the hard work SKA put into Demidov.
To think otherwise is flat out cringe.

Fair enough. He did benefit from the SKA system. But some Rottenberg decisions were very negative. You don’t play young players between 2 and 4 minutes a game. If we’re talking a normal prospect this can slow down their progress or f*** them up psychologically. This is what is being criticized.

Fortunately, he’s one of those rare players that you can’t f*** up, that will develop in any environment.

You literally asked what happens if he is better than Connor McDavid

???

so you quoted me on the "or better" part and ignored the rest, like you're saying he's better by a mile than the best prospects currently but think that if he comes close to a McDavid he'll automaticly win 10 cups?

Its like chatting with a very early version of a chat bot

2-4 minutes? Demidov is averaging 12 minutes a game. It's a joke relative to his talent level, but not nearly too low to hamper development.
By season's end Demidov will undoubtedly have more accumulated TOI than any forward playing NCAA.

I've said it all along. Rotenberg will NOT be allowed to screw up Demidov's development, if that's his intention. Not gonna happen.

I hope that we are all wrong in evaluating Demi as a mere Superstar and that @Bombshell11 is the GOAT talent evaluator in giving Demi a "generational" tag. Would be the greatest miss of my life!

Old timey coaches would screw up with their developing star players because it's the only way they could affect them.

If my young buck is scoring goals left and right, but I want to make sure that he develops a good 2-ways game too, how can I push him the right way when everyone is telling him how amazing he's already, how perfect his game is? That's a great way to screw up the development of an impressionable kid. So you mess with him. You bench him when he does mistake when you wouldn't do the same with a vet. Because you want to force him to stay hungry, stay on his toes, keep getting better even in areas outside his main talents.

Not saying that's what Rotenberg is doing or how he thinks, but personally, that's how I would see Demidov time at SKA this year.

Now he is, but not always.

And unless Rottenberg can do whatever he wants and never get fired, I would ride Demidov as far as he can take SKA. The team also needs better goaltending and players buying in, among other things. But maximizing Demidov is good for SKA.

And it’s even good for Rottenberg, as he can take the very debatable credit that he’s the guy that “developed” Demidov. He’ll also shut up Lokomotiv and Spartak fans. To me, it’s a no-brainer.

What's the bet and how do I get involved?

anything you want. by better i mean production wise, obsiously he will become better physically and maybe a better at defending. but i dont think he'll have as many opportunities as he does now

if hes ever put on a line with a McDavid like kind of player and his production increased because of that, that doesnt count.

I’m sorry, I can’t do this

you don't come here looking for a geniune conversation, thats prob why

he personally has exceeded my expectations and i dont see why he wouldn't have a very big career if given the same opportunity like Bedard is getting in Chicago.

Obviously if they start trying to make him a "better person" then he's not going to be focusing on the offense like most of the 1st OA out there are with their clubs.

It’s hard to have a “genuine” conversation with someone that lives in an alternate reality

yes you can and it would be called a genuine "alternate" conversation, these 2 terms are not mutually exclusive.

I know, your mind is probably hurting right now and i am genuinely sorry for that but alternately someone somewhere reading this got an epiphany and because of you, we today, helped the world move a tiny bit forward.

Thank you
