I want Ekholm. Palmieri would be nice too but I think Ekholm would have the bigger impact.

I feel the forwards have more to offer than they've shown so far. The young D have been good I don't feel comfortable going in to the playoffs with Lauzon, Gryz and Zboril as the left side. Ekholm is a great two way defenseman, big, physical, capable of driving offense 5v5. If you have one of McAvoy, Ekholm and Grzcelyk on the ice at all times you're going to be playing in offensive zone more often than not.

I don’t know what kind of packages it would cost to get BOTH Ekholm and Palmieri but I’d assume a combination of:

Vaakanainen, Lauzon/Zboril, 1st, Bjork, Lauko, 2nd, 3-5ths. I assume Boston wouldn’t move Studnicka in either deal. Let’s be honest though:

Marchand — Bergeron — Pastrnak
Ritchie — Krejci — Palmieri
DeBrusk — Coyle — Smith
Frederic — Kuraly — Wagner

Ekholm — McAvoy
Zboril/Lauzon — Carlo
Moore/Clifton — Miller
Clifton/Moore/Miller

Rask

this team has as good a shot to win it all as any.

I would think out of the d-men you have listed, the Preds would prefer Lauzon. BUT, they are in a bind again with the expansion draft they don't want to be. Vaakanainen solves that.

And I wouldn't play Ekholm with McAvoy. Really weakens the other two pairs. McAvoy anchors the first pair, Ekholm the second pair.

I’m more than fine with splitting them up. Could always be a situation late in game you go to that pair if needed.

Gryz doesn't make your top 6, then?

It won't help. Every year I try to swing this thread to the more realistic options, yet it strays in the very next post. I expect the same to happen this year. But it's fun
It is fun to read anyways.

Think maybe it is because Boston has been so good for so long that maybe fans haven’t had that next guy to be excited about.

Pastrnak was a fun find for sure. McAvoy too. Outside of those two look at their prospects. None scream get your ass outta the seats exciting to watch. Serviceable sure. But no one throws their underwear at serviceable.

Not to mention the whole can’t score 5 on 5 thing. As fun as it is watching the power play zing the puck around eventually those chances dry up in the playoffs. at that point they become a one line show again with the hope Krejci can carry the carcasses of his wingers to an even strength goal once a series.

That's wild. The contract is not great but he can still play. Wonder if there's something else going on here.

Honestly wouldn't hate it if the Bruins found a way to fit him in. The Ritchie - Henrique - Kase line was pretty good in Anaheim.

nobody is going to claim Henrique with that contract. I wonder why Bruins haven't put Moore on waivers simply to see if anyone is willing to take him. is there any downside to placing Moore on waivers?

You know it is not much different from what Coyle's contract is going to look like in a couple years. I wouldn't hate the Bruins getting him. Then again, when he was available before we never heard rumors of Bruins interest did we? As for Moore, I think they are keeping him as insurance. The two young guys Lauzon and Zboril are going well, but they are rookies so you never know. Then with the compressed schedule that is only going to get worse there are the injuries. Miller while looking strong is a question mark as to how he holds up. I would be surprised to see Moore going anywhere this season.

Trade Kase (damaged goods) for Henrique and Anaheim's 2021 1st round pick for taking his contract on just like Boston did to lose Backus contract.
why would the Ducks do that...Kase was a throw in to that deal, and nobody knew that much about him, are u then proposing to take Ritchie and ship him back to Anaheim also....
