That's a value of more then 6 first round picks in my opinion. I dont think we have the depth to support this deal.
Well we tend to draft well after the first round. We have an abundance of left shot D and we only give up one roster player in Lauzon

Let’s cut the bull shit

we have this and 2 more years of elite Brad

Bergeron is a vampire so his age is irrelevant

the Bruins have lots of cap space

Patrick Kane has this and 2 more years at $10.5 M and was 32 in November

Kane or Crosby or Eichel

I don’t care just do it Donny

Totally agree. I would pay extra for Eichel. Boston kid, big center and young. I think we could win a cup then still be relevant with Charlie, Pasta and Eichel as our core. I think he will blossom like Neely did.

On another note, that’s why these monster contracts suck. They restrict the GM from building a proper team around said player. That’s why McDavid will continue to struggle to carry Edmonton into the playoffs. It’s why Toronto is forever top heavy. You need franchise guys signed to reasonable contracts. Tampa has Kucherov. Bruins Pastrnak Marchand Bergeron. Unfortunately with parity I think the days of 2 players carrying a team are over.

I agree however it did work for Chicago back in the day.

I really think the plan has to be this......

Take advantage of the cap space they have this year and try to add two pieces to this team for a cup run....2RW and 2/3 defenseman, using any combination of prospects, Bjork, DeBrusk, Moore, Vaak (maybe Zboril) and any non first round picks. (Keep Studnicka)

Decide what to do with Krejci in the off season, based on where they finish, how effective he is and his contract demands.
If they somehow win a cup this year, maybe let him walk and let Studnicka slide into the 2 C role.

Summer of 2023, go hard after Barkov. Like all in, biggest contract in team history.
Agree

You know, Kane makes A LOT of sense.

At some point Chicago needs to completely tear it down. They are awful, and have no reason to keep guys like Kane and Toews while they can still move them for a good return.
He does

the other two are complicated

they get Kane they have realistically 3 playoff runs

they are the perfect landing spot

I’m down for this.

If they grabbed one of these guys, sold out the future and basically admitted they’ll try for two-3 years to win, knowing they’ll suck for 5 or so afterwards, I’d be fine with it.

Gotta poop or get off the pot eventually. And it’s getting close to Readers Digest time.

Did Chicago win during Toews/ Kane current 10.5m per contracts or did they win prior to that?

Edit* After some brief research Toews/ Kane signed their new deals in 2014, and the first year of those deals was 2015/16 season. So it appears the Blackhawks have yet to win a Cup since signing Toews & Kane to those monster deals.

eichel for mcavoy straight up?
id do that in a heartbeat.
bergeron and krejci are old timers.
mcavoy is good but still cant hit the net with a shot and makes stupid mistakes all the time.
ifbuffalo offered eichel for just mac thats a done deal.
I’m sorry but that’s a Leafs trade. If you’re Nashville several years ago you consider that trade. With Bruins depth on D? You make that trade....... well....... never IMO.

Dominic Tiano: Could Mattias Ekholm Be A Fit For the Bruins? | scoutingpost

But let's continue to talk Hall, Eichel and others ;)

I do know that they have circled back to Palmieri ;);)
Thank you for yanking us back to reality Dom. Hall would make me angry. Eichel is a pipe dream — because that pipe is full of some extremely potent skunk!

I’d like both Ekholm and Palmeiri. Would both be kind of deals that would fill immediate needs but not cost the farm.

I do wish the Palmeiri deal had been swung Thursday afternoon. Price was lower then and the two extra points would have helped.:naughty:

It won't help. Every year I try to swing this thread to the more realistic options, yet it strays in the very next post. I expect the same to happen this year. But it's fun

I don’t know what kind of packages it would cost to get BOTH Ekholm and Palmieri but I’d assume a combination of:

Vaakanainen, Lauzon/Zboril, 1st, Bjork, Lauko, 2nd, 3-5ths. I assume Boston wouldn’t move Studnicka in either deal. Let’s be honest though:

Marchand — Bergeron — Pastrnak
Ritchie — Krejci — Palmieri
DeBrusk — Coyle — Smith
Frederic — Kuraly — Wagner

Ekholm — McAvoy
Zboril/Lauzon — Carlo
Moore/Clifton — Miller
Clifton/Moore/Miller

Rask

this team has as good a shot to win it all as any.
