I'm thinking that Stastny is either going to St. Louis or Chicago (if they can clear room by getting rid of Sharp/Bickell/whoever). I would say Nashville doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting him. It's just not an attractive destination, being a budget team and everything. He'd be better off staying with the Avs, and that doesn't seem to interest him.

Edit: If St. Louis gets Spezza and Chicago can't clear the salary, who is the frontrunner to land Stastny?

Honestly not that crazy.

He's very young, and his contract is great especially because it was front loaded.

They didn't say three pieces equivalent to a first round pick. It's very likely roster, prospect, pick. Depending on the pieces it wouldn't automatically be something unthinkable to pay.

I don't know he's worth the risk, but that's not a crazy asking price.

Stars GM Jim Nill said he’d like to add a piece or two to his forward group but did not divulge his specific targets.

Sources suggest he’s talked to San Jose about Joe Thornton and also to Ottawa about Jason Spezza.

What he found out is that Thornton at this point has no intention to waive his no-movement clause, and the Stars are one of the 10 teams on Spezza’s no-no list as part of his partial no-trade clause.

So for now, it’s 0-for-2 on those two targets unless either player has a change of heart.

We reported Wednesday that the St. Louis Blues were among the inquisitive teams, add the Winnipeg Jets and Chicago Blackhawks to the long list of teams that have checked in on the Stastny camp.

Bad idea or not, they have legitimate interest.

If Spezza has us on a 10 team no trade list he's a moron. There are plenty of teams I'd rather not be on, especially if you're complaining about how much attention and criticism you get, then Dallas is your ideal situation.

One thing doens't make sense for me though. How the hell is Stars on Spezza's no-go list? I mean there is 10 teams worse than us, and Texas is a nice enough place. Same goes for the Preds, Spezza's list makes no sense.
