If true that Jays are after Bryant and Taylor, then I guess it's safe to assume they're not involved with trade talks regarding Chapman or Ramirez which is disappointing.
Not true. Contingency plans. They are exploring all opportunities to improve the team. You can’t putt all your eggs in the trade or free agency basket

I would be very surprised if it is Bryant and Taylor. It's either or on FA.

If they sign Bryant, they pivot to trade market for an upgrade at 2B. Maybe Arizona. Forgot the player's name but supposedly he can play 2B and CF.

If they sign Taylor, they pivot to trade market for an upgrade at 3B. Chapman, Ramirez or Moose.

Book it.

Marte. Sadly I watch Arizona games. Dude is the only one that can hit on that team. He would be a great add

Arizona is pretty bad for sure. But I think if we put players like Kirk\Biggio\Pearson\Groshans on the table to deal with them, they may bite.

Like you said horrible team, but a couple of those players would increase their talent level!!!!

Except for the fact that Taylor is better offensively, slightly better defensively and brings WS experience.
That's interesting he's better at both yet has never had as good of year as biggio did his first 159 games. Healthy Biggio at 2b is both better and way cheaper.

I'm good with a Bryant signing even if it has to be long term to get him. He can play corner outfield also so can move out there once the numerous IF prospects are ready and likely lose Gurriel or Hernandez by then.

Same. Money is just money. You move prospects for someone like Chapman, and you've basically ended up with the same player, in terms of value, to Bryant.

Not necessarily since you get Chapman cost controlled for two seasons and he’s an elite defender at 3B. Since 2018 they are pretty much similar as batters but Chapman provides massive value on the field. If the saved salary with Chapman gives the team flexibility to add elsewhere, it makes sense.

They're of similar value. The only major difference between them is cost on the actual payroll. And you're paying prospects to get that. If both were free agents I'd prefer Chapman too, but I'm looking at the cost to acquire and I'd rather use prospect capital to upgrade elsewhere.

You mean in the small period of time when he entered the league and pitchers didn’t yet realize that Cavan can’t hit 4-seamers?

Yes I get your argument and it’s a fair one. But if trading for Chapman gives you flexibility to sign someone like Rodon, it’s worth considering.

Or it could very well be the opposite where signing Bryant let’s you have the prospect capital to trade for Castillo.

It’s an interesting offseason for the Jays, that’s for sure.

Ah, so you are judging him only on the small sample size where his back was injured and he couldn't get around properly?

Makes no sense at all unless they are moving Vladdy back to 3B. But that would be utterly stupid and make no sense.
Or Freddies goes to 3B. He played in for a period of time as they wanted Matt Adams playing 1st. Adams was hot while Freeman was rehabbing.

Passable D from Freeman at 3B but boy a huge left handed bat in the middle of the lineup.....worth the downgrade well not much of a downgrade on Biggio but on Espinal

It is interesting in that the Jays are one of the few teams who have the cash to spend, prospect capital and are finally a destination where players want to play. It was sort-of like this in the 2010's for a few years but those teams weren't as young and we weren't signing elite free agents every year (Ryu,Springer,Gausman).

Skinny Vlad might be able to handle 3B, but yeah this rumour definitely out of left field.

I think it’s the cost for those guys that’s causing them to steer away. They don’t want to give up all these prospects and other position players when they have a realistic chance of getting a similar player without giving up their own players
