That’s a big price to pay but man would that team look incredible. Not too hard to find a lf and utility guy.

It's definitely a big price to pay but you're also getting an all star 3rd baseman who's under control for 2 more years, and Ryu comes off the books the same time so might as well just throw his money to Ramirez. You're also getting a top line starter in Plesac.

Luckily for us, there are still some decent options remaining in free agency that we can sign for LF and personally I don't mind Espinal

to me ramirez might be a top 10ish player in the game tbh. i would give up everything excluding moreno for him lol

Another thing that gets overlooked is the Jays have wanted Gausman for at least a couple seasons now so the FO and coaching staff clearly see something in him. Imagine Pete Walker helps Gausman become an even better pitcher than he already is....
I can see why Shatkins liked him. The strikeout numbers have progressed, his H/9 has been pretty good etc. Gausman+Walker=Another Cy young.

Seeing the Jays turn into a destination point at the top end of the free agent market is pretty wild to see. Wouldn't have believed it a decade ago.

It's also nice to know management can throw out good cash to meet those needs too.

They go hand in hand and it's a great feeling being a Blue Jay fan

Blue Jays, Kevin Gausman agree on 5-year, $110 million deal: Source - The Athletic

What will Gausman bring to the Blue Jays?

Kaitlyn McGrath, Blue Jays beat writer: Toronto was in the market for a starter to head its rotation and it looks like Gausman will be that guy. The Blue Jays have long coveted the right-hander, reportedly offering him a three-year deal last year, before he took the qualifying offer with the Giants. But, the Blue Jays have finally brought him north.

He’s coming off back-to-back strong seasons, where he’s struck out batters better than ever. Gausman has postseason experience with the Giants, and he’s also pitched in the AL East before with Baltimore. He now makes a Blue Jays rotation featuring José Berríos, Hyun-jin Ryu, Alek Manoah and potentially Nate Pearson even better.

What’s next for the club?

McGrath: The Blue Jays have said in an ideal world, they’d add two starters this offseason, so they’re still on the lookout for another starting pitcher, likely an arm that can slot into a back-end rotation role. That additional arm could come via free agency or trade.

The team is still in the market for more bullpen adds, and with the departure of Marcus Semien, they have to fill one of their infield spots, either at second or third base. Left-handed bats are a priority too, as the club tries to better balance its lineup.

The Mets giving Scherzer 120 million over 3 years might be one of the craziest contract offers I can remember seeing. Like batshit insane.

It's only 3 million more per year than Matz got. Seems about right. He has more upside than Matz IMO
