Feel the same way, and Blueger was in my top 3 favorites.
The problem was with the dad's trip being that close to the deadline.

Dude, it's not a soft spot. He's literally excellent at 5v5. 7% worse than Guentzel for his career, who is historically a great ES player. He has a 15% better career rate than Zucker and Rakell.
And his defense, while not special, is much better than a lot of the guys people want, like Bertuzzi or Barbashev's. It's like mid-level, which is a big step up from Zucker in that regard. I'd prefer it if L2 didn't get cratered again.

I don't suggest acquiring players based on feelings. Never have. I just look at the numbers and probability of fit.

A GOOD player at what we need our winger to do.
Nobody is coming here and putting up 60+ points in a PP2 role. Zucker couldn't scrape 50 points during the best even-strength season of his career. PP2 was brilliant, yet it still wasn't enough.

If you're looking for a 60+ point player then you're gonna have to pay a higher AAV, and it will have to be someone that the coaching staff would put on the 1st unit in Letang, Guentzel or Rakell's stead. I'm totally down with that, but let's hear some names that fit that bill.
Or that guy fills in during lengthy injuries on the 1st unit. Also possible, but that's luck based for him.

Doing the dad's trip during trade deadline season was a stupid idea by the team anyways. I know the players probably had a hand in choosing that as well but it was just ill conceived by all involved.

It seems like unless Dubas has some family reason or just needs a break, he's a lock. It won't be because of role or money.
 
These people are all in the same room during post game press conferences. Wonder how Rossi/Yohe manage to stay civil with DK and his crew and vice versa.

Likely story.

Teddy is just running interference and keeping his mouth shut for the REAL evil at work here... Ron Hextall and Morehouse. They obviously have dirt on him and are willing to use it. You can't blame Teddy for saying these things as he surely fears for his family's safety. But it's also clear he's lying.

The unAthletic have been beating the Hextall story to death for months for clicks (while totally ignoring the search for the new GM/front office story), so knowing that and who writes for them, that article being a work of fiction is not surprising in the least.

I would have to think that a major advantage to any good journalist is having the ability to not be an absolute chore to talk to.

So I mean you can see why guys like Rossi, Kingerski and Yohe have to make shit up.

There was some pushback on that from Mark Madden today. Madden said Dubas was definitely in town, but that he was meeting with scouts and Sid just happened to be at the complex working out. It was supposedly a brief conversation, not an interview/sit-down.

It's Madden, though, so who knows.
