I mean they traded a young D man because they have other young D men coming up who are significantly better and cheaper (Clarke & Spence).

This leaves them with $9m in cap space, and that's with 4 D, and no #1 goalie.

They would still need to move significant cap hits in order to be able to sign PLD, sign a goalie, and pay for 3 more D men.

Durzi was getting moved regardless of PLD.

That may be true about Durzi getting moved regardless.

If Dubois does go there I'm expecting significant money going back to WPG as they supposedly are looking for NHL ready players.

They wouldn't trade for him if he didn't agree to sign a new deal.

Personally I think they're going after Hellebuyck

Hellebucyk does make a lot more sense for them, although he's looking for big money on his next contract his doesn't start til next year.

The difficulty with PLD is he doesn't have a contract, and wants to get paid in a tight cap situation.

Schiefele & Hellebucyk already have contracts for next year, and they're resignings can be done under a much larger cap.

I think that PLD doesn’t end up in LA.

Some random team that no one has mentioned will win it.

I’m very sad that we miss the opportunity to get a player of his caliber at this point of his career.

Big fail, as far as im concerned.

We simply don't have the NHL depth to do it. We've finished bottom 5 two years in a row for a reason: the team is shit, especially at the forward position, and at center, which is what Winnipeg wants back.

Dvorak, Hoffman, Armia they're not getting us PLD. Our prospect system is neither deep enough or good enough to be trading away high draft picks.

We just finished our 2nd year of a rebuild, while things are improving on D, there's still a lot of work to do at forward.

Hughes isn't willing to sell off our meagre assets for him, and he's right.

This saga might have even outperformed Hossa’s Gloves. Many years from now I can just imagine…

“Please Papa, tell me the one about Pierre Luc Dubois almost becoming a Hab again”
Dubois is already the loser in this situation. His agent shouldn't have ever said anything. If he comes here he's going to have big pressure to perform. If he doesn't he's going to be booed and harassed in his hometown for the rest of his playing career.

MB really played a number on this team.

Zero prospect depth and no high end prospects.

Thanks Marc

That’s what i’ve been saying for a year now, thank you!

I've attended in 7 years in a row to see the Habs in Winnipeg
Stay downtown next to the rink every time the downtown is absolutely a disaster.

No offense but when you come out of a big hotel right beside the rink and you look across the street and there's a huge Dollarama downtown you know what type of city and downtown core you're surrounded in

Few years back Air Canada pulled out from staying in that hotel because he didn't want to overnight the flight attendants there because of the crime and the surroundings on the streets.

Winnipeg mayor went ballistic but in fact it's real and it just became public knowledge even more when Air Canada made a stink and moved away from downtown
It's hard to believe back in the eighties Winnipeg was the home of a number of Insurance Company head offices. Fun times before the Banks stepped in and swallowed them whole.

I mean, his agent only answered a question by saying Montreal would be one of the places he would like to play in, he never said it was the only place. It’s people who took that and took it to another level.

We have a deep prospect pool and draft pick to make it work if Win want futurs.

To be fair he also linked Dubois' interest in playing here when he was sitting out in Columbus as well. There have been several points where he tugged Montreal to raise interest.

I undertsand, but Brisson won’t ever say no my client doesn’t want to go to Montreal, too much pressure. It’s the logic thing to do, nod and say yes he would be interested. Look at how the fans and medias went crazy about this and exaggerated things, it drives interest to Dubois.

I mean I'm no defender of Marc but he's currently given us our core two best players in Suzuki and Caufield, minus maybe Dach, we'll see how the next season goes. HuGo has a lot to still prove.

The two pronged requisite never made sense for us. There is a reason the poll was so heavily weighted in favor of waiting for UFA. It's hard to imagine we were even close to putting our hands on PLD last year despite all the noise. Maybe a Dach type move but if we aren't comfortable with the term and AAV now I doubt we were back then.

One literally fell in his lap at the draft (and imo that was Timmins doing) and on Suzuki he got lucky.

He initially wanted Glass.

Made OK trades but had no idea how to build a roster.

I don’t think the AAV was ever a factor. Hughes would have negotiated something to make it work.

It’s the pieces, we’re in the middle of a rebuild and they’re not there in sufficient quantities to be disposable.

That said, it’s not over until it’s over.
