It's not jut the roads condition but something else in social life. Montreal isn't that bad with homeless people (numbers and health condition).
I was being light-hearted. If anything pro sports is all about smaller or industrial towns having something positive to rally around (Original post was about Winnipeg)

Dubois lacks the dynamic skating to drive the play. Never has and never will. The only thing he will drive is his car to the bank to deposit his pay cheque from the team that decides to overpay him.
Yes, skating could be part of it, he is a good overall player, just not the kind who can be a go to guy for a team. I actually think he is better on the wing, he moved to C in his draft year. And that's (on the wing) )where he should be if he does end up here.

Most people around here seem to be fine with trading the 5th OA for Keller,

Keller and PLD are compareable players, PLD being a slight tier below,

So the 18th OA pick should be enough to make up for the difference,
I saw somebody propose that trade, Hockey Writers maybe. It was exactly this, PLD + 18OV for 5 OV. Not that the HW site is often any better thought out than the rumour board here, but whatever.

That's a hard pass.

And not that I'd necessarily do 5OV for Keller myself, but he was 86 points last year playing on a team that was actively trying to not dress a legit NHL roster. PLD's career best is mid 60's and he's playing with much better linemates in Winnipeg. Plus we know Keller's contract , 5 more years at 7.15M, and we all expect PLD to be around a million more. I don't think it equates.

Dubois and his agent are playing Montreal like a fiddle. Its almost amusing.
They may be playing that game but the Habs have their own crafty fiddler who can spin yarn with the best of ‘em. The best the Dubois camp can play is the gullibles in the court of public opinion. They’re not getting anything past HuGo.

I'm at the QMJHL draft and had the chance to talk with someone well aware of the Dubois saga. Take it as you want

They are 2 teams remaining :

MTL
LAK

Should be done in the next 2 weeks

For the contrat they are looking at Matthew Barzal contrat as comparable

I can see LAK. Kopitar is 36 in August, and is going into his final contract year ($10m). Who knows if he's playing again after this year? If he doesn't, they're freed up from his $10m and have a large cap increase. If he comes back, he isn't getting $10m again.

One thing is for sure neither Vilardi or Byfield look like they are able to replace him.

Kings would have to send Iafallo as a cap dump for sure. They probably need to send Arvidsson as well, but he's going into his final contract year too. He's UFA 2024.

LA can then probably send 2 cost controlled youngsters in Durzi (they have Clarke to replace him), and Rasmus Kupari.

That leaves the Kings with a top 6 of Kopitar, Danault, PLD, Kempe, Fiala and Moore. It opens up roster space for Byfield, Vilardi and Kalieyev, while leaving their 4th line of Lizottte, Grundstrom, and Anderson-Dolan set.

It's definitely doable for them, and would give them 2 decent centers to rely on post-Kopitar.

Do you really think Dubois hit his peak and is going down from now on?

His 63P in 73GP is better than what Suzuki did this year in terms of PPG...

I don't understand the pushback when it comes to this guy.

I'll take him on my team 24/7!
I’m definitely interested in the Habs acquiring Dubois somehow, but I’m starting to wonder if he’ll be able live up to all of the pre-trade hype.

We all know how playing in Montreal can be suffocating for players.

...that's been goin' on for over 20 years, amigo...in the 90's it was Hell and not much has changed; they're still working on the same damn roads...
I was last there in 2017 and it was bad. It's like that here in SE Michigan now. Every expressway, plus many of the alternate surface roads, are all under construction.
