Some in the trade thread were speculating if the Jets consider being a seller if they lose this game. If we are going for the 2nd wildcard spot we may as well acquire some future assets by trading some guys. Calgary is unloading guys as well so it'll be realistic to take a run at the playoffs even if you move a guy like PLD or even Dillon for a king's ransom.
The real reason PLD did not play tonight? Or was it just the tip?

I thought the game was pretty even but starting slow is still a pretty big concern. Honestly it shouldn't have been as close, Hellebuyck wasn't the wall he usually is.
That's a lot of goals against - not his best night but hard to call him out.
He didn't get much help from the D on most of them - net front (deflections), lost coverage on a couple, seem pass PP one timer, point blank shots, blah.
Not worried about Helle - encouraged by the teams compete - but agree they were slow out of the gate again.

I think I am just about done with this core group of Jets. These PLAYERS do not seem to get IT aside from JoMo Hellboi Lurch.

Yeah, I'd say at least 2 were goals that he probably stops if he's at the top of his game which is enough for me to say the game shouldn't have been as close. I thought he was kicking out uncharacteristic rebounds as well but maybe that was just as much LA shooting to cause them?
I agree though, Hellebuyck's play is still and will probably always be one of the least concerning parts of the team.

Well that was a step in the right direction. The effort and fight was there, the execution was better but still needs improvement.

PP was awful and let the team down when they put it away in the third.

I hate to rag on Helle but when your team is slumping hard and they spot you 5 goals you need to step up and get the job done. He didn't tonight.

JoMo, Scheifele and Conner all came to play tonight. They are the drivers and need to drive like they did tonight for this group to be successful.

I thought El Nino acquired himself well in his first game. I think he'll fit in once he gets more familiar with his teammates and the scheme.

Was happy to get some contributions from the fourth line tonight.

I am not sure what is up with Ehlers, he's just looked really bad lately. I thought he started to pick things up a bit in the third but we need much more from him.

I think the lack of skill after the first line was apparent tonight. We miss Cole and PLD.

Chevy still needs to grab another quaility top 9 guy imo.

Once again, I fell asleep and missed part of the third period, overtime and the shootout. Well, at least the Jets scored five, but the Kings scored six...:pullhair: I give the game four OMG's (not the good ones) out of five...

That's four losses in a row and six losses in the last seven games. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out we are in a bit of a slump.

The Prediction Contest has been posted for the game against the Oilers. Don't forget to sign up for a GDT, the Edmonton game will be presented by @Zhamnov5GoalGame. Let's hope it will turn things around for our Jets!

I did “Driving to Survive” F1 on Netflix new season is top notch. I watched that instead for the most part.

I feel they've been manufacturing drama in the past couple of seasons, this one no exception. Certainly doesn't have the magic of the first couple of seasons.
