I edited the article linked in the first post of this thread in regards to position (and also nationality in the case of Siemens). My sources were Eliteprospects and HockeyDB. So in the case of Couturier, I'll post these links:
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=32885&lang=en
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=115908

Is Sean actually a centre? I haven't seen him play, so I don't know.

Also, note the conflicting places of birth between these two sources. In my experience, HockeyDB has at times listed where someone grew up instead of where they were born. Does anyone know which source is correct in this case?

Maybe Couturier can play both Centre and Left wing.:help:

Rocco Grimaldi will be playing college hockey for North Dakota. He's not going to be a high draft pick because of his size, but I thought this would be a good place to spread the word because he is 2011 draft eligible.

Saw him play in Detroit U18 when he was 15, heck of a player. If he was 6ft we would be having a very different conversation.

At the very least, will be a strong College player.

If Grimaldi grows to 5'9''ish (same as Jordan Schroeder), can you see him as a potential first round pick?

Which one do you think has more offensive upside, Grimaldi or Schroeder?

How About A Top 20 or 30 List!

This list is from wikipedia. Take it for what this is worth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_NHL_Entry_Draft

It's interesting to see a Swedish forward as #3. Many people are talking about Ryan Nugent-Hopkins as top 3 guy. But so far he doesn't seems to have impressed the scouts that much. Still no Gabriel Landeskog in the list.

Discuss.

I look at the list and there are some really good players absent. In no specific order: SAmbroz, KKomarek, MStCroix, DCatenacci, GLandeskog, SShemelev, TRattie, SBartschi, LLessio, TJurco, SMcColgan, TReider, BBenson, TJurco, NJensen, GMeurs, JSefton, BJenner, ABrassard, NShore, CMcNaughton, KCutting, FSimonelli, MHrbas, PBeranek, MTvrdon, MPartanen, NNesterov, AKhokhlachev ILivitsky to name but a few...I see quite a few here that could crack the top 10...They say the 2011 is suppose to be weak. Well it looks as though the teams with the best European scouts will do best here. NHL scouts better do their homework!!!

Komarek scored a few goals at the WJC's, but one has to wonder if he really has the tools to develop into a NHL player someday. There’s a lot of hockey outside the WJC’s too.

McColgan Can Score But...

There's no denying that Shane McColgan can score. He isn't overly big though and he plays the wing which might hinder his productivity(injuries may pile up). Will he bulk up during the off-season to help his cause? Another good California kid who has been fun to watch in the WHL so far. Good Luck to him!

I agree there is no way he is 5'11. He is skilled and anything can happen but at this point he is too small, too one dimensional to go top 10. Should be a first rounder though and if he grows and improves his game anything is possible but at this point I think he is more overated than underated given his success in terms of puting up points.

Larsson should be #1. Not that Couturier hasn't been impressive, but what Larrson has done is simply outstanding.

Loving Rask at #3! :yo:

I wish people would stop with the Canadian bias thing. ISS is not going to risk its reputation just so they can rank a Canadian number one.

In fact, Sean Couturier is an American!! He is born in Phoenix, Arizona. He grow up and play minor hockey in Bathurst.

I'm from Drummondville, so I have seen Couturier play often. He is big, 6'4" tall and have a weight of 193 pounds. I'm agree, he needs to puts an others 10-15 pounds on his shape.

What I see from him? At the age of 16, he start the season at 15 years old because he was a late, his birthday was on december, so almost of the season he played at 15. He was a rookie who play on the third line with apparition on the 1rst and second line. And in the playoff, he help to win the president cup. He stats: 31 pts in 56 games and add 8 pts in 19 games in playoff.

Last year, he lead the leader of the QHJML with 96 points in 68 games. He can score, he can pass. He is big and he use is frame in the corner. He can have 1 or 2 players against him, he will go out with the puck. He had the ability to protect the puck with his body and his butt!! A scout said to me that this kind of protection, a kid of 17 years old (remember he play at 16 yrs old for the half of de season) don't do it at perfection, but he does.

So, he his a big guy who is big and use his shape to protect the puck. He his good in all the things, he is good offensively, defensively. He is an all around player. He will be for sure draft first or second at the next draft.

If McColgan is 5'8, then RNH is only 125 pounds....

I have seen McColgan plenty of times, the kid is a legit 5'10...seen him in person as well and I am 6'2, I do not tower over him..

Not sure why McColgan takes the backseat to Nugent-Hopkins. Both are smallish yet equally sized players, yet Hopkins seems to be getting more buzz while putting up less numbers then Shane. I think McColgan is every bit as good as Hopkins if not better...If he can put up another 10 pounds to his frame by October, then I think the kid has a chance to simply dominate the WHL and dominate a top 5 spot.

It is all in his hands, but Shane McColgan is a name that some people just are missing out on currently. Kid has sick skills folks, best 16 year old CHL American since Mike Modano back in 88....

I have only had a limited viewing of both players and generally hate going from what others say but from everything that I have heard, the knock on McColgan is that he is a perimeter player and does not handle traffic all that well. R.N.H. on the other hand is a fearless player who will go anywhere and do anything to score goals.

Perhaps that is why the difference in opinions on the two players.

i'm in the same boat re. the limited viewing, but i don't think i would label mccolgan a "perimeter player". i think the 2 just have a different style. to use younger examples, i think rnh is cut from the duchene mold. he's a great skater and for a smaller player is very competetive along the boards because of his balance on quick starts/stops which allows him to control the puck against bigger guys. he plays a more up-tempo attacking game. mccolgan i'd liken to a pat kane. he's more cerebral and will slow the game down a bit to control play. i don't know if he's so much a perimeter player as he is more apt to zip in and out of open ice much like kane. another thing i like about mccolgan is that he got into a few fights this year with bigger guys. obviously he'll have to cut that out as he gets older but i like the competetiveness he showed in doing that.

just want to note that i'm not trying to compare these kids to said players, just trying to give an example of how i'd compare their playing styles. like i said, i've only seen each once so there's certainly people here who can give a much more informed opinion on their play last year/potential.

havent heard from you in a while....glad to hear from ya again....

I agree with what you are saying, but the skill factor is very close to one another yet RNH gets more hype....maybe he is a more fearless player, but flat out skill they are very even imo...
