This list is from wikipedia. Take it for what this is worth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_NHL_Entry_Draft

The following are the top ten prospects for the 2011 draft as of the July 1, 2010 update by International Scouting Services

1 Sean Couturier Left Wing Drummondville Voltigeurs QMJHL
2 Adam Larsson Defence Skellefteå AIK Elitserien
3 Victor Rask Centre Leksands IF J20 SuperElit
4 David Musil Defence Vancouver Giants WHL
5 Seth Ambroz Right Wing Omaha Lancers USHL
6 Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Centre Red Deer Rebels WHL
7 Brandon Saad Left Wing Saginaw Spirit OHL
8 Ryan Murphy Defence Kitchener Rangers OHL
9 Vladislav Namestnikov Centre Khimik Voskresensk Russia
10 Duncan Siemens Defence Saskatoon Blades WHL

It's interesting to see a Swedish forward as #3. Many people are talking about Ryan Nugent-Hopkins as top 3 guy. But so far he doesn't seems to have impressed the scouts that much. Still no Gabriel Landeskog in the list.

Discuss.

sean couturier is a tank, i think it will be him vs larsson for #1...and depending on the team and team needs that'll determine whose #1 probs.

Matt Puempel should be on that list. Somewehere between 5-8 imo.

I think he will eventually find his way up their. I watched him in his two minor midget seasons in Sun County, and the kid has the tools. He will have a heck of a Defenceman in Koekkoek on the Power play with him, which will help as well.

Agreed! I love Pumepel's game. He should have a monster year with Watson and Spooner.

Agree about Puempel...great talent with size and an all around game.
Of the OHL players for the 2011 draft I can see Ryan Murphy moving up especially with his improving defence. Gabriel Landeskog sneaking into the top 10 and Puempel somewhere in between.
But I have no idea who to drop!

Thanks for the answers.

Can anyone tell me about Matt Nieto? What kind player is he and where will he play next season?

Still on top!
Nice to see Siemens on the list. The kid is going to make a NHL team very happy.
I guess this list should prove to you Captain Moon that Larsson is not the undisputed number one at this time.

Yes, and don't understand why? I guess it's all about Canadian bias. Because prospect wise I don't see any reason to put Couturier above Larsson. :shakehead

Wonderful thing about a democracy. You don't have to see it. Other people do and you don't have to agree with them. Their opinion could be "Canadian bias" sure and yours could just as simply be "Swedish bias".

Good call. People on here get way to focused on that sort of stuff.

ISS is independent, they have no reason not to call it like they see it. If they get it wrong, it hurts their credibility.

What specifically about Couturier's game do you dislike? Have you seen him play?

Because as a 16 year old, he lead the QMJHL in scoring.

He's 17 years old and has been that since december. It's not like he as been 16 years old the whole time.

Also Larsson has tied a 30 years old record in SEL. A record which no d-man has been close to since 1978. What should next d-man do to top the ranking? Break the record with 20 points or 30 points or... Also Larsson was named as the best d-man in U18 WJC. This has no swedish d-man done since... well I don't know. Seriously what must a swedish player do to top the lists??? I mean Couturier's numbers aren't THAT great compared to other Canadain forwards. It feel like ISS only want to make this interesting. Or maybe this isn't how the scouts want it to be. This is maybe how they think the GM will pick. They think a Canadian forward will be picked as #1 once again.

Also Couturier's league is only the 3rd best JUNIOR league in Canada.
Larsson's league is perhaps 3rd best league IN THE WORLD!

I will ask again, how many times have you actually seen Couturier play?

Here's a question worth asking, who was the previous record holder?

Its the Tavares or Hedman debate all over again.

Couturier is 6`3 and is still a year away from being drafted, and put up 41 Goals and 96 Points, and again still has one more season to go before being drafted. I would put this kid up against Hall and Seguin, except he`s bigger and probably will be better
