Aatu Raty keeps tacking on more points. Another assist for him in Liiga action

Regarding 3rd rounds:
I'm still scratching my head considerably over the Ljungkrantz pick. I think most independent rankings didn't even have him in the top 230. That doesn't have to mean anything, but when a guy like Martin Chromiak is still on the board as a majorly dropping player (who has since done nothing but look like a stud in waiting), you gotta wonder why that 3rd rounder was Ljungkrantz, of all players?

I mean, did they not think he'd be available at a later juncture?

I headed into that draft thinking this team would surely target someone like Sean Farrell with that pick

As for Lennox this past summer, I mean, goaltending is always a beast of a tricky position in an of itself. All you really need is one scout who is dead set on getting a certain goaltender and the willingness of the GM/Head of Scouting to add a goaltender via a draft in order for a pick like this to be made. Certainly, the kid has some desireable traits.

Still, I was ecstatic to see Swedish forward Victor Stjernborg (who has been injured for all but 8 games this season) on the board at the end of the 3rd round and thought he all the makings of the "Swede" who checked off all boxes for this Isles staff.

I'm sure most everyone here had their faves in these 3rd rounds.

They really just suck in the third round in general. I really just don't see Ljungkrantz even being an AHL guy because he's such a meh player. Yet another wasted draft pick

We can naturally hope that the scouting staff really knew what it was doing with this pick. They obviously had something in the back of their minds with respect to taking this kid as opposed to roughly 175 who were generally more heavily scouted and known.

Unfortunately, Ljungkrantz has really shown NOTHING to date indicating any reason to believe he'll be anything more than a minor leaguer or lower line first league player - IN SWEDEN.

Be it with the SHL team in very limited appearances, in the Allsvenskan, or in the U20 league, he has neither been a PPG player or anything of positive note in the +/- department.

But late bloomers do come around and we do have his rights for a pretty long time. Just trying to find something positive about it.

I tweeted this one day after the 2020 draft, looking for guys who went undrafted on that day and thinking some may never be drafted:

Jeffries and Dufour are probably the only ones I feel confident in making the NHL from our picks that draft. Rajaniemi is a possibility also but who knows. 2020 might as well suck even more when our original 1st and 2nd rounders are guys like Grieg and Niemela. Just shows how fickle the draft is in general. If the isles still kept those picks then we probably would've never been in the 3rd round either in 2020 or 2021, just saying

It’s hard to say how much he really plays and in what situations, playing all over the place can’t help with continuity either. I’m not making excuse for him it’s just hard to say what kind of prospect he is. I’d imagine they bring him over this summer if he has any future here.

I’m excited about Dufour. Who isn’t?

But Jeffries? A 20 year old on a middling Merrimack NCAA team who has 3 goals and 6 assists in 17 games this season for a 0.53 PPG average. That’s 8th on his team in points.

Last year he had 4G and 6A in 12 games for a 0.83 PPG average. His numbers should be getting better, not regressing.

Never saw him play. Am I missing something?

Jeffreies is probably going to be one of those players where you really don't have a sense of what you have until you are looking at him more closely in the AHL, but yea he is far from a blue chip prospect.

He’s fast, seen him play twice and that stands out he can really skate.

also someone saying he's like oliver bjorkstrand makes me really interested. I really wanna see this Jeffries kid make it because he has had his shot at the top line for merrimack and has produced, problem is that he's all over the damn place and that program is experiencing so much COVID BS

I think Adams and Berg are better prospects than Jeffries, but what do I know?

Still shocked on Bolduc. Was hoping he's be a beast in the AHL this season and push for a roster spot next season. That stat line...woof!
A few years back, i was paired up on the golf course with a father whose son played in the Q and he felt Bolduc didn’t have the bite in his game to be an NHL player. I guess we will see

i also heard it from the wind that Bolduc is somehow the worst player and we messed up because Washington took Leason instead

Who gives a shit let the kids develop, i'm not letting this AHL season deter me from how I see him

No one is saying anything about this season or last season, it was some ones perspective that was given to me long before you even had Bolduc on your radar, so relax. If you are correct the Isles will have a player

He has struggled with injuries this year, he is raw prospect but you can see the ability. He wasn’t pushing next year for roster spot either way IMO, and I also will say I don’t think this is necessarily a lost year for him either. The adversity and struggles can certainly help him down the line. I think he still needs work on skating and to be more consistent with physical play.

With respect to Bolduc, in juniors he already had a man's body and seemed to be very cautious and concerned about running over and maiming children, while a dirtbag like Braden Schneider seemed to delight in it. It could simply be a matter of character, restraint and evolution/thinking.

The injuries and starts and stops this season have definitely hampered Bolduc's development. But, as long as he is still able to do some pro training, eat right and mentally prepare for the grind, it is not a completely lost season.

It is all a matter of what Bolduc is doing to better himself, and if he has enough snarl/desire to make it in the NHL. When you start seeing real money close up, often times that is a spark to get to the next level for some players.

Maybe Robin Salo tells Bolduc about the differences between the NHL and AHL?

I am specifically thinking something along the lines of the scene in Bull Durham, where Crash Davis regals the bus of players about the differences between the majors vs. minors.

Seems like you are the only one really giving a shit. Guy was just sharing some tidbit of information he had to a group of fans. I'm not letting it deter me either, but it doesn't mean I'm not going to be disappointed in his lack of progression. Maybe you were one of the guys that said the talk about JHS was overblown, lol.

Those type of big bodies who don't know how to use them drive me crazy. They have to make sure they have enough skill to fall back on it. Vladimir Malakhov comes to mind. Guy was pretty lazy, didn't like to initiate contact, but at least had enough skill to make it in the NHL. Imagine if he had the edge that Kaspar had? Would have been a machine!!
