I outperformed my draft status in that regard.

I remember craig button said hes similar to vrana in a way. That isn't bad at all, but he also got tanguay comps. I 100% trust lou's drafting, and our scouting

Honestly, if I had to gander, I'd think they may even say Holmstrom reminds them of a young Patrick Elias.

As for the drafting, if we really take a look at Lou's 3 drafts thus far (and I believe he happily leaves the decisions to his staff), basically only the Wahlstrom, Dobson, and Wilde picks were atypical. Those guys just fell in their laps and our staff gobbled them up - rightfully.

But as of Iskhakov, I think the staff has been basically totally unpredictable. There's really no telling WHAT they are thinking.

As of right now, we've got six picks in the next draft, but the expansion draft takes place first and who knows what wheeling and dealing will be done, especially with Ladd, Komarov, and Hickey still in the fold.

In addition to the uncertainty involved with the upcoming draft, I'd say that a lot of kids are going to go undrafted and some will be eligible to be signed as UFAs.

Just dunno if that'll be something that plays a role in the planning. There are a couple of overagers in this draft who I feel would be great UFA signings.

Although I'm generally inclined to throw in a sarcastic post, I'll turn that off for now. I fully agree that the jury is out on this kid and he still may be a solid NHLer down the road.

But let's not fool ourselves. He's underperformed his draft position thus far.

I think the moving to AHL after his draft year especially a losing AHL team might not have been the best move. With Bolduc progressing nicely as 2nd takes away the Monday morning QB that they should have grabbed the consensus best player and waited to see if Holmstrom makes it to their spot at 2
