Hopefully this’ll be Raty’s last year in Finland. It’s not gonna help his development or confidence playing 11 minutes a game.

Playing 11 mins in his first game over there is NOT a big deal... if it doesn't go up by Xmas, then we can talk about it. If the end of the year comes and it's still in that range, then we can rant and rave about a wasted year.

But it's game one.. after lots of travel.. Let's see how it evolves before diving for the panic button.

I acknowledge that that's probably the case with MVS and PW (and I'm sure you've seen them more than me) but I still keep them in the back of my head because of the "ya never know" factor. If the team still keeps them around and has them in BP, its always possible that they can develop. Getting more and more unlikelier (is that even a word?) as they get older but some players develop later and sometimes it takes a random opportunity for them to all of a sudden show that they belong. But if we somehow have a rash of injuries and guys 8-10 on our D depth chart get a shot, who knows what happens?
It's not a word. You are using the comparative form which is more unlikely. Just take out that er ending you put on and you are all good.

Kärpät played tonight. Aatu Räty didn’t play. No injury or illness, he was benched.

I bet Lou is trying to get him traded to another team in Liiga.

he’d most likely be our 2nd best C there.

Let’s wait and see. I thought it was a bad idea when I heard that he was going to attend the camp and miss nine games. The other drafted players in Kärpät never joined their camps.

It seems like the decision put him in a bad spot, and he got to work hard and show the coach that he is good enough for the team (Kärpät was top of the league without Räty). Hopefully he is back in the line up by next week.

Definitely. It was probably good for him to get acquainted with the NHL world but it was pretty bad for him for this season. He had a weak game after coming back and was scratched, and the team went on to win the following two games. This coaching staff seems to like the idea of keeping the winning roster and his competition has been stepping up as well. He has his work cut out for him to become a permanent member of the roster but he'll get his opportunity soon enough. Center is a tough role to play for sure, especially for someone so young.

I think that kids gonna be a player. Size and scoring ability. Wonder how he is in front of the net.
I watched most of his goals from last year on the Q site. No surprise, he looked great and as you know he’s a big boy.

Maybe you see what you you want to see but some of those goals showed next level skill.

Can’t wait to see what he does against better competition.
