No books closed on Wilde.

Who knows what's coming on the socio-political front and if the Isles are successful finding a good spot for him in Europe, then his development doesn't necessarily have to be stalled.

Heck, they could luck out and he lands with a good team that has a prime role in store for a player such as himself.

Yes this is best of bad situation for him, just go play and have a good year and hopefully we see him at camp next year. Trotz even said that and hopefully he realizes isles haven’t written him off.

With respect to the 2020 Draft, this is the kid whose progress we're going to need to follow:
upload_2021-10-1_20-25-48.png

Why?

Because he dropped like rocks loosened from a canyon for reasons that still haven't been verified or even really discussed by the scouting community. Surely there were reasons, but none that were mentioned when just about the entire commercial scouting world spoke of him as a Top 40 pick entering the very curious and unique draft.

Anddddd.... he was there to be had when we took Ljungkrantz.

Ljungkrantz is still playing for Brynas' U20 squad.

I watched Chromiak at a U20 tournament this summer against Denmark, Germany, and the Czech Republic. He simply blew everyone away. Faster, quicker, trickier, more powerful - than anyone. And his shots were bullets. The goalies looked like pre-schoolers against him.

Granted, none of those opponents are among the world's top five.

But he was a man among boys and his many tools were on display.

Another quality prospect for the Kings, who have an incredible crop of young talent.

I've been one of the few here who went to bat for him. I'm sure Trotz loves how he protects the puck and works the corners at his age. No easy turnovers that allow odd man rushes.
Holstrom's success will be the real factor as to whether our prospect pool will be sufficient, at this point, to keep our lineup rolling. We obviously don't have the depth across the board that other teams do. But if he progresses into the big team's lineup, we'll likely have what we need for the next few years while we wait for the likes of Raty and this year's crop of draft picks to mature. Assuming, of course, that we can get at least one legit starter from Salo, Bolduc, Wilde, MVS, PW, Hutton, etc. There seems to be enough redundancy on the blue, though, for either the higher end guys (Salo or Bolduc) or one of the darker horses to break through.

Good post. I’m also hopeful that Dufour will make the club at some point. Hard not to be excited about him based on his size and the handful of clips available from last year’s games.

As for PW, you had me stumped there for a moment. At first I thought @PWJunior had some potential before I connected the dots on Parker Wotherspoon.

Having seen Wotherspoon and MVS a few times, I wouldn’t get my hopes up for either of them.

Wotherspoon and MVS have gotten passed by on the depth chart. Same for Sebastian Aho if we sign Gustafsson.

I watched some of the Kraken game last night and kind of thought that their defense was missing a little skill and was thinking of a Hayden Fleury for Bellows and Aho swap. I just don't see enough in the two of them to think we are going to get enough out of either of them to try to send them through waivers.

I acknowledge that that's probably the case with MVS and PW (and I'm sure you've seen them more than me) but I still keep them in the back of my head because of the "ya never know" factor. If the team still keeps them around and has them in BP, its always possible that they can develop. Getting more and more unlikelier (is that even a word?) as they get older but some players develop later and sometimes it takes a random opportunity for them to all of a sudden show that they belong. But if we somehow have a rash of injuries and guys 8-10 on our D depth chart get a shot, who knows what happens?

I think we should view Wotherspoon and MVS differently on account of the fact that MVS has missed some MAJOR time.

And a few publications had him ranked within our top 5 prospects after his sophomore season with the Soundtigers.

But we won't really know until/unless he gets in a good chunk of games in a row.
