I feel you for sure. And imo Dobson makes no sense for VAN as a base. All the player tracking/puck tracking stats look pretty ominous for Petey so I'm also wary of acquiring him as an Isles fan - hoping whatever happens works out for all of us

They have to keep Pettersson. They put all their chips on him. They don't need Dobson as much as they need Pettersson to figure it out. Even if they were to acquire another young centre, who's going to have an upside even close to his?

If he busts completely, then so be it. But for better or worse he's the one they bet on. Onwards and upwards.

It’s not a locker room issue at all. It’s just the rumor mill because the 3 pickups have played surprisingly well making it seem like he’s expendable.

Unless it's a much bigger deal that also involves Horvat, it doesn't make any sense to trade Pettersson now. Our top center would be Chytil...

Conversely, there's not a shot in hell the Isle are moving both Horvat and Dobson for a return that makes sense for Vancouver.

It reminds me of the Senators "broken room".

They trade Hoffman, even know they know that short of Melnyk selling the team sometime between June 19th and training camp in September, that Karlsson is not re-signing and they aren't offering him market value (no NMC, etc).

Then a few seasons later, Bobby Ryan went full 99 Rideau street on Kyle Turris in the middle of a game between Ottawa and Nashville. I'm half surprised that there wasn't a racoon hanging out on the ice.

I wouldn't do this despite being a Canucks fan that is okay with trading Pettersson for good value, we give up too much given Dobson's contract status and Barzal's health status...Pattersson + Soucy + 1st is the highest I would go.

san jose is going to have another top 3 pick so they might be open to trade a young forward like Smith or Eklund

dobson , dickinson and potentially Schaeffer would be a nice looking blueline for san jose .

Lowballing on here (like what Canucks fans have conveniently done) vs actual trade market are two different things. To say that Dobson doesn’t have the value he does and the Isles are being bandaid together by waiver pickups/cheap trades and can replace him that easy is comical. Unless they’re getting a mid 20s proven scorer who’s not inept away from the puck/in his own zone, it’s not even worth moving him. If anything, the down year and injury helps the Isles save money on his contract and when he bounces back it’s looks even better then it is. You have a guy on here claiming a 3rd pairing LD, EP40 and a 1st gets both Dobson and Barzal. That would be like the Devils offering Jack Hughes, Kovacevic and a 1st for EP40 and Quinn Hughes. It’s borderline pathetic how bad that offer is.

for the what 100th time...Isles not moving both Barzal and Dobson to Van....

Van is not a fit, if the isles stupidly trade Dobson it would be with another team.

So Vancouver trades away the best player in the deal and also adds their best prospect plus their first round pick? Yikes.

So the isles trade their 2 best young players....again, not happening from either side. Van fans need to move on and find other teams for possibly deals.
