Rumor: Isles going after Petterson; Dobson possibly involved

There's more than meets the eye with this one. Trading Pettersson for the sake of trading Pettersson doesn't make sense. Especially when the Canucks defense looks great now, they really don't need Dobson anymore.

Have to be another team involved. The third club ends up with Dobson and Van ends up with the piece from them Allvin wants. Maybe St. Louis?

That actually (leaving Van out of this) makes sense. Lou Lam extends Nelson then has Horvat and Nelson as his 1/2 centres and Barzal and Kyrou on the wings. Good pairs. Pageau as the 3C is ideal.

He's locked up for 2 more years. That player, Cuzens, Quinn and a couple more high picks could change his train of thought. Is he more likely to leave in that scenario or with just him and EP40?
 
If VAN trades EP40 for Dobson+, and they keep him to run a top 4 of Hughes-Hronek, MP-Dobson, they would not need Willander, who would be wasted on the bottom pair (and they have Myers, Mancini and others, also). So, as great a player as he could be, they would be wise at that point to move Willander; should be able to pull one of McTavish, Kulich, Stankoven, Lundell, Pinto, Holloway, Cowan, or Yager. Hopefully you get one who plays C long-term :thumbu:

I would think he would be more confident that Pettersson can regain his form rather than Cozens or a draft pick becoming a top line center in the next 16 months before he can sign an extension.

Wilander is atleast 5 years of cost Control, Dobson will get atleast 8million, this team already lacks top end talent at forward, probably better to spend money on forwards.
 
I feel Petterson and the Islanders ship has sailed since we fixed out D. Petterssons to the rescue with Willander on deck. Dobson just doesn't look like a piece Canucks NEED anymore.

IF Pettersson gets traded we will need a top 6 Center coming back. His value can't exactly be all that high with the way he is playing last year worth of hockey along with his 11.6 M contract.

I feel the only way Canucks can win with the Pettersson situation is only by Pettersson digging himself out of his funk and go back to being a 100pt player. I can't see any other way we come out doing better than Pettersson just becoming Pettersson of the past .

Nobody knows what is going on in the Vancouver locker room but it doesn't sound good. Possible that Hughes is fed up and asked to be traded hence Vancouver interest in another offensive defenseman. You never know.

Absolutely. That is the likeliest thing possible that could possibly happen. It's super possible.
