I that's probably fair. I see him as an offseason option.
The problem is that the young player would be someone teams are reluctant to give up since ideally it would be a cost controlled option and not some 25 year old equivalent of Anthony Beauvillier/Oliver Wahlstrom.

The other problem is the caphit for a contending team at TDL. They can't take on 6M without near equal cap going out in the form of a capdump or a much lesser player.

If it’s a cap dump of an expiring contract which is understandable to include but not for a Brendan Gallagher dumpsterfire contract in return.

Dobson is a 24 year old cost controlled RHD on pace for 90 points with another year at 4M before his payday, he’s amongst the most valuable players in the league at the moment. Maybe you’re responding to someone I have muted but he’s our most untouchable player
Thats exactly what I was saying as well. Dobson looks to be a franchise #1D who plays the right side. He's just below guys like Makar and Hughes but if he can replicate this season he's right their with them.

Take two of: Savoie, Kulich, Rosen, Krebs, Peterka, top-1 protected 2024 1st, 2025 1st
Then take one of: Poltapov, Neuchev, Kisakov
Who are the 3 on the 2nd list? Sounds like a bunch of guys from the Russian B team in 1970-whatever that smoked the US.

Toronto is so lucky to have like 6 franchise players. It’s not even fair. They probably win the cup easily every year.
Those 6 franchise players make up 80% of the salary cap. Tough to win when it’s a bunch of 8th defenseman and 5th liners supporting that.

Recent 2nd and 3rd round picks with tremendous offensive upside. Poltapov is still over in the KHL. Neuchev and Kisakov are in Rochester. The Rochester pair needs some work, but the upside is obvious.

The KHL thing is iffy to me with world politics so he might not even be able to come over honestly. As for the other 2, needs work as in struggle at the North American game or needs work as in shows promise to actually developing but needs some future seasoning?

Isles, Sens, and Sabres should each move one or two core guys in a three way trade. Sens and Sabres have young core pieces that could be moved to the isles for experienced core pieces. Nelson, Pulock, and Lee out from the islanders. Sabres and Sens move ???

Primarily, for them it's about weight/strength. They get pushed around a bit too easily. Neuchev is a gifted stickhandler who doesn't mind being along the boards......Kisakov is primarily a sniper but has shown a defensive conscience.

Who are the Sens and Sabres giving up in return? If Pulock is being moved out, the return better actually help the team and be under contract for multiple years. If it’s Chychrun coming back, I want nothing to do with it.

Anyone with some meat on their bones, the Islanders have 5’5 human highlight reel in Ruslan Iskhakov in Bridgeport. More of that doesn’t help.

The Sabres aren’t moving Owen Power, that’s just not realistic. That’s like saying the Sens are moving Sanderson.
Got to give to get. Sens and Sabres need to change culture in their young players. Isles need an injection of elite skilled youth. Pulock, Nelson, Lee would help improve culture in Buffalo and Ottawa. Maybe the Sabres move on from Dahlin?

Dahlin, Power, Tuch and Thompson are the 4 pieces I can’t see Buffalo moving. That’s like saying the Sens would be willing to trade Sanderson, Tkachuk, Stutzle and Chabot. They might be able to improve culture but the teams aren’t moving major pillars going forward like that nor would the Islanders move those 3 to get guys like Mittlestadt, Brannstrom or Skinner (and his $9m AAV) in return.

Difficult to change culture of a core if not moving on from at least one of that group. IMO the Sabres could get both Nelson and Pulock for Dahlin. That would be great for the Sabres and insert elite skilled youth onto the islanders. Never will happen, of course.

As an Islanders fan, if I’m moving Nelson and Pulock; I want a top 6 proven forward in return, not more for the back end. Find a forward to fill the Nelson hole and then use what’s in the system to adjust the defense with the loss of Pulock. The blueline right now is loaded between Romanov, Dobson, Pelech, Pulock, Bolduc and Mayfield all under contract through next season. They need forwards who can play within Roy’s system and have a high skill set.

We aren’t taking RyJo

Nelson + Pelech for Marner who says no
Although Marner is that sexy name. I don't think this deal works for either team.
If we are dealing Nelson and Pelech. I'm doing them in separate deals to maximum the return of good young salary controlled players.

He got taken off the first PP and is slow. He’s a leader and physical, probably 3M overpaid. I’d personally love to move him for a shift in leadership to Horvat
Would you guys be willing to retain to move him? Mikheyev's fast and cheaper and great on the PK, plus he had a top-6 role before in Toronto. Him and Barzal together would be tough to contain.

Mikheyev + 1st + __________ for Lee (with retention)?

What’s the _____? It better be worth it to offset the $5m (with multiple years left) 3rd line winger you’re offering. If it’s some overhyped minor leaguer, no interest.
