This is a very impatient fan base. Defensemen usually take a while to get used to the NHL.

And advanced metrics tell a different story. They both had stretches of play where they did well defensively, and stretches where they didn’t. So did Skjei. So do almost all relatively young NHL defensemen.

Not impatient, actually I'm ok with Pionk on the team but he seems to be repeating the same mistakes again and again and I just dont think ADA is coachable. Hes gotten chance after chance here and he gets into the lineup and does a bone head thing he knows the coach will bench him for. I'm wondering if either guy can be coached into being a better player.

He looks more engaged and a good hit earlier - any signs of life is good right now.

Did you not see him in the beginning of the season? You can disagree all you want, but the advanced stats, regular stats (he was a +6 or +7, leading the team), and eye test show that he was good defensively. But I think he’s having confidence issues now, and he can’t get into a groove while being played on and off.
