It's that he is being exposed for what he is, a very good 2nd line center who can get bumped up the top line when necessary. He's got the tools and hockey IQ to provide two-way play but lacks the consistency to be a true No. 1 center.

Who wants Paul Stastny as top pivot for next season?

Is that supposed to be an ironic question?

Not to make any excuses but maybe Callahan leaving is having an effect. These guys maybe are hearing some of the same stuff we are.

i think what hurts stepan is his terrible skating ability which also effects kreider because of his great skating ability. We really need a true 1C who can skate and pass

The Rangers....

don't have the puck-moving skill on the blueline to handle a fast, aggressive forechecking team.
don't have the size to handle a big, physical team.
don't have the horses to go toe-to-toe with a skilled, creative team.

Who could the Rangers possibly beat in the playoffs without Lundqvist standing on his head, assuming he's not worn down by the long Olympic season and doesn't regress to where he was earlier in the year?

Stastny had an excellent peak but hasn't been a legit 1C in quite a few years.

I like Callahan but i think trading him is better tahn overpaying him 5-6 million per year. I understand he is good PK and scores occasional big goals BUT his injuries have become more frequent and his overall offensive ability isnt great.

I mean, his original comment about Stepan could basically be reposted in any Stastny conversation.

Stepan is basically Stastny.

No clue why people want to overpay yet another free agent center. Sure has worked out well in the past!

That sounds like the 1998-2004 Rangers teams. Trust me. I know :help:

I like Stastny just fine but I laugh when hearing people say we need a #1C so should buy out Richards and sign Stastny. As of right now, Richards is not any worse than Stastny.

Well, I'd disagree with that, mainly because I'd say Stastny is more reliable defensively than Richards (and because Richards is ****ing awful).
