Eklund Rumor: Isles and Yotes major swap of prospects?

I don't see where a Perlini for MDC swap makes sense, even with a "change of scenery" thesis. And although I like Mayfield, at this stage he's not a major piece and our acquisition of Schenn has made him redundant on our blueline.

Obviously would love to get Barzal or Ho-Sang but I'm certain Snow will not put those guys on the block.

I'd hate it if the isles gave up on Dal Colle this early. He hasn't been bad. Barzal Ho-Sang and Beauvillier have just been so damn good.

I just said Dal Colle for one of Crouse or Perlini because for the Islanders Dal Colle and Bellows are sort of redundant while Crouse and Perlini are redundant for the Yotes. Islanders might want a big more size and toughness while Yotes might go for the higher offensive upside

Personally I wouldn't do it for Perlini but I would for Crouse(from an Islanders perspective)

I might be biased -- and likely ridiculed when it doesn't come to pass in a few years -- but I think Crouse is going to have a bigger overall impact in the NHL than Dal Colle.

Crouse and Perlini are redundant for the Yotes.

Other than size and handedness, Crouse and Perlini are very different players. Perlini has higher goal scoring upside but a much higher bust factor as well. Crouse at the least projects to be a Troy Brouwer-esque middle six forward who can excel on both the PP and PK.

MDC has more upside than Perlini so I'd do that trade, but I don't see why the Isles would.

The main problem with Ho Sang for me in terms of trading is if you look at our roster and prospects, RW is a weak spot so he has more value then if we had tons of RW prospects. Basically 2 of our 4 RW spots on the roster now(assuming Ho Sang doesn't make it are converted LWs). Looking at scoring leaders though in general it seems like top end RWers are at a premium compared to left wingers.

I find it amusing how so many Isles fans have turned against Dal Colle already. It's yet another case of...

They got Andrew Ladd for that. 5.5x7

If "turning against them" is analyzing their play and finding it sub par at this current juncture, then yeah, why is everyone being so realistic? Damn them all!! They should definitely see things that aren't there at the moment!!! Certainly nobody did that with Griffin Reinhart and certainly nobody was a fan of that trade :sarcasm:

Isles and Yotes talking?

I am looking into another rumor regarding the Islanders and Arizona Coyotes. It would be a major swap of young prospects. Right now it's "off the record" but I am planning on talking to a key source this afternoon. More on this later or possibly in the podcast.

I'm now starting to wonder if Eklund even speaks english. This guy is such a fraud, but apparantly he is also an idiot. Do you know what "off the record" means, Eklund? Because on/off the record is not the same as saying something is confirmed/unconfirmed, nor is it the same as saying something is or isn't kept anonymous.

Are you saying you are currently reporting something that was supposed to be "off the record", thus you were asked not to report it? And are you then also saying that after talking to this source it will then be "on the record" and you can publish the information as well as the name of the source? BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT YOU WROTE!

Agree 100%. The truth hurts.

I think the Isles has to add something. Maybe Mayfield?

Haha. No. MDC+Barzal+JHS for Strome? Still probably no. We already have a bunch of prospect depth. We've only got the one true blue chip prospect in Strome. He's unique in the organization. Those three Isles prospects would be just more in the mix with kids like Keller, Dvorak, Crouse, etc. Strome is a clear cut ahead.

In my opinion, Strome is Arizona's most important asset under the age of 24.

My list of Top Under 24:

Ah. Yes. DeAngelo. He's up there for sure.

I'm thinking...

1. Strome
2. Domi
3. Duclair
2. Dvorak
5. Murphy
6. Chychrun
7. Keller
8. Rieder
9. Crouse
10 Fischer
11 DeAngelo
12 Perlini
13 MacInnis
14 Dineen
15 Samuelsson
16 Merkley
17 Wood
18 Dauphin

Ehh... Strome is looking more and more like a bust. His skating is clearly not NHL caliber. He has size and a nice shot, but in the game I caught, his speed was clearly leaving him behind in a lot of plays. In one case he turned the puck over and looked like David Steckel was trying to skate down the ice.

He has no acceleration, and while yes that was one game, it confirms what I seen in the playoffs watching Marner last year. At this point I think he is lucky to make the NHL as a third line C.

:shakehead

So so silly.

Anyway.. The Arizona and NYI systems just seem so similar (Barzal/Keller, Ho-Sang/Domi, Beauvillier/Dvorak, Pulock/McInnis, Dal Colle/Perlini) that I just see no point in a deal. I guess NYI could use a young player like Crouse, but I don't see them spending a big asset to get him and even if they did that asset would likely be redundant for Arizona.
