Islanders not renewing Lou Lamoriello’s contract

About time NYI joined the 21st century. Hopefully they don't f*** up the GM hire.... Roy getting fired needs to be the next thing that happens.
Yeah finally!!
I feel like next year might be an evaluation year. Minimal changes on the roster and Roy gets his choice of assistants. New GM/AGM as well as hockey ops department gets to see what they have from within the organization to make changes.
Next GM job: Get McKenna, so it will be a complete blow-up situation.
It does need a refresh but who knows what they’ll do. Ideally a quality president of hockey ops then go down the line. Thankfully they finally decided to make the change.
New Prez, New GM (separate jobs), and Roy to keep some linearity.

This might be the greatest reply I’ve ever seen on the internet. Thank you for the laugh that’ll last a while :biglaugh:

Rebuild or retool? Will be difficult to rebuild with the long term contracts (with trade protection) to so many good veteran players. Seems like it’s a retool. Another club stuck in the middle and unwilling to rebuild through high picks in the draft.

They can’t trade all of Sorokin, Horvat, Barzal, mayfield, Pulloch, Pellech, Lee, cizisaks, jgp, and likely Dobson and Romanov as they’d be almost at ufa.

No rebuild. But a major retool is needed. Older Dmen and forwards need to be moved.

Yeah, it got ugly at the end.....and his hockey career is now over. But lets not forget what a force this dude was over his front office career and he had one hell of a dynamite career with the devils.
Even his first 3-4 years with the Isles was pretty good everyone thought they’d be ass when JT left yet they won several rounds and gave Tampa their toughest challenge 2 seasons in a row at the conference finals
