I think they've got to announce it between June 15th and June 30th. I don't think it's a message, nor would there have to be one once the listening period begins.

I get the sense that Washington will not want to deal with us for a while unless it's a massive overpayment. I just dont see Grubauer going back for a set of second round picks. Maybe Nelson, 2nd and another small add, but I wouldn't trade a 1st.

As for the defense, if Karlsson falls through, I would take a long hard look at Tanev from Vancouver who is reportedly on the block. Then we could take our chances with John Carlson, or go after a Faulk type.

I really hope we could keep at least one of those first rounders this year and groom a third line center. A Cizikas type plus the scoring touch.
