Looking back at that season, the Jets were SOO much better than the Caps. +59 goal differential for Jets vs +20 for that Caps. How did they win and we lose? Statistics really are for losers.

Oh yes you have changed my mind oh so quickly with your fact based post. I clearly said I've gone to multiple ISLANDERS games since he took over and have seen his recent coaching style.

They have:

Barzal
Nelson
Lee
Bailey
Beauvillier
Dobson
Whalstrom

All very talented offensive players. All playing a very defensive style. I'm sure they would have more points with Maurice and Lowry.

Again...my question was will ownership take the risk of having 41 home games that could be based around Trotz defensive style.

romanG67 already pointed out that the fwds offense is more or less the same pre trotz vs with trotz. also, you list those fwds names.... yeah they have some talent, but vs the rest of the league they're closer to bottom half.

im not sure why you included dobson... he just finished 16th in nhl scoring for dmen as a 21 year old. the only jet dmen to clear 50 pts was buff (not developed by maurice) and trouba (1 season, as a 24 year old)

if a team like NYI w/ their fwd group turned into a high-event game in trading chances.... i don't think they'd go far against most PO calibre teams. trading chances against the likes of kucherv/stamkos/point or matthews/marner/nylander/tavares etc, i think more often than not the opponent would come ahead. a more defensive style might be their way to win. given that in 4 seasons he had 2 ECF/Semi appearance (lost in 6 and 7 games vs TBL) and a 2nd rd appearance. id say they overperformed given the roster.
