He fits (in my opinion) all the needs.

Funny that the Isles used the word "fired" to remove any doubt that when his contract expires he is not welcome to reapply for the job...
Trotz will likely be the best coach that is ever willing to come to Winnipeg. If he's not burnt out the Jets should for sure push hard for him.
He does come with some of the same complaints that people had of PoMo and other Veteran coaches about not playing the kids. He also plays a very defensive style, which results in winning but also isn't the most exciting and reduces offensive players numbers, so if you want a run and gun style of play, Trotz isn't the right guy.
He will hold players accountable and the team would have success. I would very much be happy with a Trotz hire. It would be very easy to do worse and very hard to do better.

Within a nanosecond of 1st hearing the news, Chipman/Chevy/whoever should've been on the phone with Trotz and/or his agent, offering him WHATEVER it takes to get him here. Get Daddy Warbucks Thomson to open up his wallet, if necessary. If anything can breathe life and enthusiasm back into the organization, the team, the fans and the atmosphere in the arena, bringing Barry back home to turn this team around is THE move here. The Jets getting their name on this ol' mug--->

I'm torn on this one.
I think his defensive system and holding players accountable are what this team needs, but I have heard he relies on the vets more than Maurice did.
He's better than a lot of other candidates out there right now though.

I took the first option, though I am not so certain that he is 'perfect'. But picking the perfect man for the job is very difficult. I think we couldn't go far wrong with Trotz and he might be the ideal man for right now.
At the same time, I think he probably goes somewhere else, or even stays home for a year.
I wasn't aware of the issues with his son. I think that will trump everything else.

There is speculation that Barry Trotz may want a role in management. Maybe the biggest stumbling block will be him wanting to be a GM or President of Hockey Operations and not a Head Coach. I hope Winnipeg figures out a way to make this work. Maybe the Jets could make him President of Hockey Operations since we don't appear to have one along with Head Coach. That way no GM could fire him, only Chipman.

So who better to bring in to a “divided room”. Someone with proven success that will command respect. If there are issues and Chevy hires Trotz and says this is your team any problem players will be weeded out.

Sign Trotz….work the Manitoba and Save the Franchise side of things. He’s only 59 and he’s been doing this quite awhile. Bribe him with Chevys place in Lake of the Woods and a new John Deere tractor series. Maybe PoMo’s place…just get it done.

Read on the main boards that Trotz was fired because of a rift between him and Barzal, which is, to me anyway, interesting.
Well he's the loan skill guy on otherwise a team of grinders upfront. Trotz just did what I would hope any good coach would do and that is mold the scheme around the pieces he had. Barzal just didn't fit with the rest of the team that way.
If he came here I think you'd see schemes that allow for scoring like what he ran in Washington and his Kariya Preds days.
The main question to me is whether or not he will run three scoring lines — and if he is able to clean up the locker room culture mess. Also, I wonder if he likes ketchup on his hot dogs? Or at least hot dogs in his ketchup.

Hire Trotz and by Xmas youll have half the board complaining that he don't play the new guys enough and that guy who says "Every Jets skater is a defensemen" will be in full force again.
