It definitely sounds like Byram is in the trade mix for some kind of return. A PMRD to pair with Dahlin or Power would be huge going by our needs. Personally, I want to flip Byram and #9 for the Elias Pettersson redemption story arc, but it's not up to me.

And that gets even more compounded by the fact that Dobson can just take his qualifying offer for a year and then ride it to UFA next season (I think he would have 7 years in the NHL by then and thus be UFA at 26).

In a league full of serious injuries, it would be very stupid to gamble $60M on the hopes of getting another $10M

Our priority isn't for an offensive D-man though. Dobson is great, don't get me wrong, but it's not what Ottawa needs. It would be Chychrun 2.0, but worse because he'd be on an 7-8 year deal at premium price.

It's not like Chychrun because Dobson can actually play the right side since he's right handed. Chychrun was not effective on the right side.

be 3 million cheaper than what Dobson wants, you replace dobson with good d man slightly
less points and gain a 2nd. Even through in a good propsect if needed.
