I started this on our thread, and thought it would be interesting to get our fiercest rivals opinion.
I mentioned on our board, where some fans were talking about Lundquist (mostly wishing him well), that I always liked Brian Leetch. I secretly cheered some for him, and most certainly enjoyed watching him play.
So the question I pose, what Islander player did you secretly admire, wish was a Ranger, and enjoy watching?
I think we are all adult enough (maybe) and it's the Christmas season with hockey starting, so perhaps we can have a nice convo about it on both boards. Merry Christmas ya dirty bums.
kasparaitis - primarily b/c of how he played against Pittsburgh
Was gonna say Bossy. He was just so good and you really could never tell why as he hardly oozed talent.
Thank the good lord that Bread didn't sign with them buggers otherwise they would have won the Cup this past year and likely would be huge threats to win a few more as he's exactly what friggen team needs and has needed for years.
So no thank you to even thinking about the nightmare that would have been Panarin on the Islanders.
Vukota? He had less than zero hockey skills. All the other guys you mention were good hockey players. Vukota was a UFC fighter wearing a jersey.
Pat FlatleyPalffy and Lafontaine come to mind.
More recently, probably Lee.
I'm 46. When I was young I despised the Islanders. That hatred was replaced by the Devils in the mid-'90s. I hate the Devils, and pity the Islanders.Hatred is totally age vs. good scenario. If you're in your 60s, probably the Flyers. 50s, Islanders, I'm in my 40s so I despise the Devils, Penguins, Caps to some degree.
I loved Darius, and cried when the NYI traded him. For a team that has made many, many stupid roster decisions - that was one of the worst.
This guyBest ever at bringing fierceness and chaos. Loved him wherever he played--obviously.
