I mentioned on our board, where some fans were talking about Lundquist (mostly wishing him well), that I always liked Brian Leetch. I secretly cheered some for him, and most certainly enjoyed watching him play.

So the question I pose, what Islander player did you secretly admire, wish was a Ranger, and enjoy watching?
I think we are all adult enough (maybe) and it's the Christmas season with hockey starting, so perhaps we can have a nice convo about it on both boards. Merry Christmas ya dirty bums.

Kind of a funny thread as I've been saying this for a few years now - despite being a NYI fan I like the NYR roster ALOT better than the Isles'; the Rangers have MASSIVE firepower with Panarin who is unreal, Kakko and now LaFreniere, plus d'angelo on the back end.

The NYR might win a cup with these guys before the NYI do.

God almighty, why couldn't you have been the NYI GM and convinced him!?!!??! I love Panarin, one of top 5 faves right now.
 
I liked Tavares when we didn't have to play the Islanders.

Always liked DiPietro, don't really no why as he rarely played. Maybe it was the name

dude, I was like 9, and mentioned I didn’t have cable, and I believe at that point the Rangers away games were no longer on channel 9, so watching any games at my dads house was great hockey. I just liked players that were interesting on the ice to watch, and Vukota is a name I’ve remembered for the last 30 years.
 
I have honestly never hated the Isles the way I do the devils or penguins, just because of how old I am.

once saw a 0-0 game in Nassau with Mark Fitzpatrick in net...always liked him.
 
The funny thing is that the Isles have been such a bad team the last number of years outside of recent years, that they've dropped significantly who i feel are our rivals. To me its, Wash, Philly, NJ, Pits, and because i live in canada Toronto, MTL and then the Isles maybe?? Given the boring style the isles play id rather go watch any other team play the Rangers, minus Arizona, that franchise is ass.
 
Hatred is totally age vs. good scenario. If you're in your 60s, probably the Flyers. 50s, Islanders, I'm in my 40s so I despise the Devils, Penguins, Caps to some degree.
 
I'm an Isles fan that has always had not so secret admiration for Beuk and Graves. They gave Messier and Leetch the space offensively to take my dearly beloved NYIs down time and time again. There's a slew of players that I respect that I watch--since I live Upstate and the NYR are the only team in the area I can access and want to watch on some level. Sorry for the intrusion.
