There was also Zibs whiffing on an open netIf Sorokin doesn’t make that ridic save in the 1st on Bread… this game ends very differently
Because looking for that perfect pass play is EASIER than shooting and hustling to retrieve the puck, shooting and getting it back in the corner, shooting and getting the rebound, shooting, shooting....you get the idea.Im just not a fan of the way we 6-on-5. Still looking for the perfect passing play.

Hagel already has 21 goals, would be 3rd on our teamHagelin and Fast weren’t as physical but they were solid
Can’t pin all the blame on them, but my god was it ever atrocious to watch. They missed the only two legitimate penalties all game…worst display of refereeing all season
He is shooting over 20% which isn't sustainable, but I hope he's a target for Drury anyway.Hagel already has 21 goals, would be 3rd on our team

Sorokin was excellent. Can’t blame Shesty either…we just need to find more offense 5v5 somehow.

Everything's been covered pretty well so only thing I'll add is that it's a shame MSG isn't like that atmosphere wise more often. Being there last night, the crowd felt like a playoff game and it probably hasn't been that loud there since the last time they were in the playoffs. Obviously the fact that it's the Islanders and St Patty's day added to it but it really made for a fun time at the arena. Also not as many Islander fans as there usually are though that was expected given their place in the standings.
Likely the first round of the playoffs…Our finish game is weak
When a goalie is locked in like Sorokin, have to play simple hockey shooting the puck from up top. This team refuses. 6on5 they refused. Play too slow and allow the lanes to be closed up
Panarin on the wall is predictable. A lot of our offense is predictable. When does it end?

well he's off to Tampa anyway... dangHe is shooting over 20% which isn't sustainable, but I hope he's a target for Drury anyway.
@Amazing Kreiderman Name all the players in Rangers history whose first game was a tri-state challenge game.
Tri-state challenge is the brand they put on Rangers-Isles and Rangers-Devils games. Hence Vatrano's first game as a Ranger last night qualifies as an answer. Was thinking this could be for your trivia lolWhat's the tri-state? Need to know that first LOL.

I still can't get over that save. Not just the athleticism to get over, but the coordination to raise his stick up off the ice mid-dive when he saw that Bread elevated the shot. I'd obviously still take Shesty, but dammit if Sorokin is a freakish talent. If Sorokin doesn’t make that ridic save in the 1st on Bread… this game ends very differently
I suspect Drury brings in more shoot-first types. Like Vatrano. Going forward.Because looking for that perfect pass play is EASIER than shooting and hustling to retrieve the puck, shooting and getting it back in the corner, shooting and getting the rebound, shooting, shooting....you get the idea.
Especially 6 on 5 there is little room. They should be making one pass and shoot. Ugggh. And mind you, I am an optimist but it just seems this is their thing. Quinn couldn't change it, and GG doesnt seem to be getting it through either. Unless of course, he is okay with it.
Yep. Could have been majors or at least double minors too.Big save no doubt... but the 2 "missed" calls on the NYI were more critical.
Barzal cross checking Zabinajad, high hit on Lindgren ... blood... missed...
Yep. It’s not just the lack of edge. It’s really the lack of fighting through checks, clogging the net front, and even the obstruction stuff. As we know the refs rarely call it. Rangers might as well get some of that for themselves, too.Valiquette: We're easy to play against.
We sure don't make things difficult or uncomfortable for the opposition. We play a clean game.
