"Good player but don’t see much higher ceiling than a top 6 D."

Good player but don’t see much higher ceiling than a top 6 D.
What’s that have to do with his first goal. I think he has the potential to be a middle
Pairing defenseman. He’s an unreal skater and has been terrific playing guys on the rush. He needs a little work in the defensive zone covering but I think that’s mostly do to lack of expand young age.

I don’t see him ever being a big offensive guy but his skill set would surprise me if he put up some 30-40pt seasons while playing really good defensively.

Being a reliable steady 6-4 defenseman would be fine by me.

To be fair, every d-man is a top 6d.

I thought that but knowing his history I took it as “he will never be a top pairing defender/ he’ll be a #6” but there’s definitely time for him to say ha ha I made a funny.
I.e. he’s a 5/6 D. Decent D, good skater but nothing special.

Not sure how no one else sees this. Islanders fans will probably be ripping him to shreds in 2 years (like they do to all of their D) anyway

whatever

Islanders fans have seen some of the best skating defensemen in recent memory. George does not have the straight ahead burst of acceleration of Toews or Leddy, but he's got the edges, and possibly even more fluidity than Leddy. He doesn't seem particularly creative, his shot is kind of a muffin, but he's decisive. He's played 20 games, and he's already figured out that he can eat overaggressive forecheckers for lunch. And Roy loves him. The more I see of him, the more I see a 2nd pair guy who eats up even strength minutes, and is a big help on zone exits.

And he's 20. Imo he's got plenty of frame to hang on some more muscle.
