I'm going to trigger a bunch of posters here by saying yes, Zuccarello's jersey should hang in the rafters.

Kind of off topic, but I wonder how Marc Staal will be viewed upon years down the line. Home grown product, including this season will have spent 12 full seasons with the team which is pretty tough to do in the salary cap era, will just be outside the top 5 in all time games played if he's on the team next season, wears an A and is a respected guy in the room, and was pretty damn good his first 5 years or so. But obviously ever since the concussion/eye injuries. he's just been flat out bad and is only around because of the albatross contract and other factors circling the team (rebuild so no need for cap space, didn't want to buyout another bad D, etc).

Just interesting to me how say in 10 to 15 years, people may look back fondly or negatively on him.

Not a chance.... unless.... unless....
He resigns next season and is named captain and leads us to the cup final where he scores a hatrick again the Oilers in game 7 at the garden winning goal in OT

Then yeah hang the hobbit from the rafters

I know we never won. But Zucc meant more than anyone has besides Lundqvist the last decade. Pure heart, and soul guy, that gave his all. I hope one day we can retire #36 for all he’s done. I mean we can still sign him in the offseason but is he worthy if it?

I love Zucc but not even close.

His resume doesn't touch any of the other players up there, the only one closest is Graves, and he's up there due to Danyeko intangibles and service.

Lundqvist is the only post lockout ranger who will be up in the rafters, and that's how it should be.

McDonagh had a better full NYR tenure and no one brings him up for jersey retirement.

No. And sadly aside from a standing ovation next whenever he returns to MSG, he won't getting any honors from the org.

Just the reality of not being a a superstar worthy of jersey retirement or part of winning a cup. Plenty of people will remember him though... sure we will see his jersey at games for a long time.

I mean, he’ll probably get a video tribute too

Not a chance unless he progresses crazily like winning a scoring title or something.

Am I going to be the only one feeling strange when this guy gets traded and all my non HFboards friends are really sad about it and I'm just thinking "at least I won't have to deal with the hysterical posts from his fan club anymore?"

For some reason I can picture Webster wearing that Mr. Rogers sweater, mimicing Zuccs scruff and greasy long hair... Climbing the rafters to zip tie a Zucc banner next to the retirees..
