Zucc is one if my all time favorites, but no. He's more in that Stefan Matteau, Ron Duguay, Nick Fotiu mold, where he's a local hero who is loved by the fans and instantly recognizable and always loved when they return to the Garden. He has lead this team in scoring, but only because everyone else sucked at scoring.

I don’t know what’s more shocking, the idea or the fact it wasn’t Webster who started this thread.

I like Zuc but he has just over 350 points in just over 500 games. He's only been a full timer since 2013-14. He's in the same category as a Mark Pavelich, Reijo Ruotsolainen, Eddie Johnstone, and later a Darren Turcotte; guys who were productive for like 5-6 years in New York.

There's a better chance of Lundqvist waiving his NTC then Zuc's number being retired.

Gilbert, Hadfield, Ratelle, Howell, Bathgate and Giacomin never won a Cup with the Rangers but that's the type of impact you are looking for if a player is honored this way.

Zuccarello is nowhere close that that

Hadfield was even pushing it a bit. Not that that was horrible. Brad Park should be there though but that's another #2.

I like Zucc--he's been one of my favorite players for quite a while now but I don't see it. I don't see it with Girardi who you mentioned earlier or with Staal either. Henrik absolutely will get there though.

I know we never won. But Zucc meant more than anyone has besides Lundqvist the last decade. Pure heart, and soul guy, that gave his all. I hope one day we can retire #36 for all he’s done. I mean we can still sign him in the offseason but is he worthy if it?

Thanks for your nice words, but I don't think it would be a natural thing to do.

Perhaps if it was based on the extra effort award, he won it 3 times. But then Callahan's number should also be retired.

Too bad this ended the way it did, he's disappointed and bitter on the management. I don't think he comes back.
But he loves his fans like they love him, that will never change.

It's going to be weird for the fans to see another player wearing #36 though.

Oh yes! I can see it now! Messier, Giacomin, ... and, Zuccarello! Lol get out of here with this garbage.

Sorry have seen this player being talked about now a few times as an outsider no he's not worthy have having anything hung from rafters. Sorry but Rangers have a rich history and many great players this guy is nowhere near their top 50 most likely and maybe 100. What exactly has he done that he's getting all this attention on Rangers board? Im not hating just really curious honestly.

As a very patriotic Norwegian who's ridiculously proud of Zuccarello: No.

Also, can we please stop with the "jersey in the rafters"/"where does he place all time"-threads? It's starting to get embarrasing.

It's been a fantastic ride following his time here, and I'm happy he seems to be one of the Rangers that's almost universally liked. Now he can finish off by giving the team some valuable pieces in the rebuild.
