Nah. No passion in this group. If they have a big moment where they finally come together, whether it's a defining physical game or, dare I say, a playoff series win, then maybe they can turn it around. But until that day comes it's just a bunch of skilled individuals playing as they please.

The one exception though is our bottom six, guys like Moore, Kerfoot, Soup, Timashov, Kappy etc all play hard and put in a lot of effort consistently. They are a likeable bunch, but it's moot if your stars don't step up and lead the way or set the tone.

No.

None of them give a rats ass about playing in Toronto. In fact based on how they have negotiated its a lot easier to assume that they actively dislike playing here. None of the top guys demonstrate that they want to win here. They only demonstrate that they want to get paid.

I’m about done with this group. Call me in another decade when this organization has flushed out the toxicity of Marner, Matthews, Nylander and Dubas.

Bottom six is great. Love those guys. But they are not the core of the team. They will come and go.
Marner needs to go. I think there are several team that’s would love his skill. Trade him for grit, defence and futures...... and I could f***en care less how much he and his family complain to the media

Not at all. Holl is likeable. Gauthier is likable. Dermott is likeable. Matthews has his moments as does Rielly. Muzzin isn't the worst. Neither is Freddie or Nylander. Mikheyev seems alright. And i feel sorry for Snakes. The rest, meh.

I'd have to say this team is pretty remarkable in how unlikeable they are at the moment. The embarrassing lack of effort, their fragility in any pressure situation, the unwillingness to stand up for each other as a team coupled with bloated contracts makes these guys pretty damn hard to cheer for.

No heart, no emotion, no character.

my fav team in the last 10 years is the lockout shortened season. Orr, Mclaren, Frazer would tune anyone who came even close to Kessel JVR and Kadri tf up. Throw a Matthews or Marner on that team and you have a heavy skilled and balanced team. What we have now won’t win shit. If the offence isn’t going we are screwed. No willingness to back check, play team D and get into the dirty areas.

not a lot of skill on that team but all heart and we still had some good players. Letting Nonis go after Clarkson while walking Grabo and McArthur and history wrote itself.

Whoever enjoys this “all skill and speed” team doesn’t know what real hockey is. Dubas IMO isnt qualified to even hold the door open at Scotiabank arena. No idea how Shanahan stands for this shit after he came in and was “disgusted” by the lack of character form Phanuef and Kessel. What do you think of this team Shanny?

Not the way the team plays in the defensive zone. This passive, collapsing style is so frustrating to watch because they are allowing the opponents to cycle at will. The point has all day to make a play while we are so worried about taking away the high danger areas. Getting hemmed in our own zone leads to fatigue and then the opponent creates high quality chances anyway.

Until that changes (coaching), it will be a pain to watch

Your supposed to enjoy watching sports and your team play but they are just frustrating to watch this season, not much compete at all and most of the team has boneheaditis stupid plays and high percent fail passing to guys who are totally covered, caught out of position, leaving guys wide open in our zone and a plethora of giving up break aways and odd man rushes. Fly bys and losing puck battles, outworked I can go on but its the same ol 45 since last season middle Jan.

Likeable
HELL !

Love the Leafs but this iteration isn't very likable from a fan perspective.

High skill guys that seem to float a lot or take games off.

Top end guys demanded massive pay days to the detriment of the rest of the club

Nobody willing to grind out wins with a bit of physicality.

No creativity or booming offensive production (President Trophy Caps teams may not have won a cup but at least they dominated possession and scored a boatload of goals)

There was one play tonight where Marner could have checked a guy by the half boards but he just skated away like there was a force field repelling him. Shades of Kessel.

But that's fine because Marner is not "that" type of player.

The problem is the Leafs have too many guys unwilling to get gritty, and even if they control most of the game, they occasionally land in situations where they'll get out-muscled and let in a goal. Those "sometimes" really matter. Mix in a couple of guys like Tom Wilson, dirty as he is, or even getting the skilled guys to hustle like Oshie, and the Leafs will strike much better balance.

Moving one of Kapanen, Johnsson, Kerfoot, or even Nylander could get that "power forward" type, but of course at the cost of skill.

what's to like?

every single guy on this team is devoid of a personality-- matthews, marner, nylander, andersen, tavares, you name it - they put half the nation to sleep soon as they start talking in a post-game interview - yes, these guys really ARE that solemn

all we had was kadri and komarov but of course they gave them away - now we have nothing, literally NOTHING in terms of personality, heart, passion, soul and grit

the entire team looks like a sad collecton of small, soft, scared little kids

the real men are playing on teams like st. louis and boston

and then we have our big, tough guys like - marner, nylander - bahahaha sorry I cant even finish this without laughing

Not likeable. The young core is overpaid, and they are unwilling to stick up for each other. I might have overlooked their softness if they signed fair contracts, but they lost their goodwill after taking Dubas to the cleaners. Sad part is they once had everything going for them. They were once the crown princes of the city. Now they are in “unlikeable territory” until proven otherwise. I’ve already started watching the Raptors in place of the Leafs. And it was all avoidable had they just been reasonable.

Was it worth it? Was it really worth taking Dubas to the cleaners? Only a cup will redeem you.
