Is There a Worse Announcer Than Cassie Campbell?

Probably seeing the end of colour commentary and the introduction at some point of the 'non-commentary' option with the level of trash it's become in the NHL at least although I do enjoy Jack Edwards.

Why do we assume she has a lot of knowledge?

Tons of NHL players couldn't tell you anything about the intricacies of the sport. They couldn't tell you who played where, or why a certain strategy is/isn't working. At least not reliably. If the argument is that she is an Olympic hockey player, my rebuttal would be that 15 year old boys routinely stomp the women's Olympic team through the year during their training before the Olympic games.

I doubt being a good hockey player makes you a good analyst or announcer. We've seen former NHLers flounder at this brutally. She just isn't good at what she does. Take into account her brutal bias and the general malaise that comes on when listening to her speak about things I doubt she really understands, or making overarching statements about things that aren't even happening or true in the game...and it has put me off.

There was another female commentator years ago who I thought was pretty good. To be fair though, I don't care as much as a lot of people here do here though in listening to them. A lot of the time I am zoned into watching the game as I like to jot down notes and keep track of various events during play. Hardly hear what they're gawking on about anyway.

RDS is bad but TVA is just so much worse
 
She's really not that bad. Ramanda is bad. Healy was horrible. Most aren't that good and don't add much to the game. I'm pretty sure they have the colour commentators there for the lay fan that don't really know the game. Basically if you follow hockey, all the colour commentators are annoying.

Are there any that are actually good?

Healy gets my vote for worst announcer ever.

Craig Simpson is the worst. I've never seen someone involved in sports be so boring.

Canada is lacking media personalities for a guy like him to have a job on CBC.
 
I don't like Hrudey much as a color guy either. That woman on the San Jose broadcast is bad but I think she's new so maybe she'll get better over time. Both Tampa Bay and Columbus commentators can be pretty unaware of what's happening on the ice. That TB vs Col game it took them a long time to bring up how Rantanen was injured and not playing. I guess those Colorado guys deserve a mention for dumb bias, like if you are gonna be bias be entertaining at least don't do this stupid moping when the other team scores.
 
I like Campbell tbh, she seems pretty knowledgeable and isn't annoying like some commentators around the league
 
no . but theres all kinds of little creepers out there just as hideous . ecspecially doing playbyplay , is strangis mutant voice even of earth ?
 
She has got to be the absolute worst play-by-play/commentator I have ever heard.

Just awful voice, and completely useless, redundant "comments". I can't stand her.

It is quite clear she is in the booth only because of her gender.

She did some segments in the studio during the intermission in some panel X talking about Y. Then she was much more tolerable. She didn't try to shout over the background noise of the arena, and she was reading off the teleprompter, thus having much better content.

If they are hell-bent on having a female in the broadcasts, just put her in the studio during intermissions, have her read off the prompter.
 
Jack Edwards is great at the play-by-play. He’s just a horrific homer. He does compliment opposing players and get strangely excited for opposing goals more than you’d think if just reading HF. Still a homer though.

But I think we all know what they’re going for with Cassie. So she will be around at least for the rest of the season.
