My only real exposure to her was when the Avs stomped Calgary a few postseasons ago. She was so incredibly bias and each game the Avs took over she would sound more and more like someone ran over her dog.

Avs fans might have one of the worst play by play guys in Moser, but I'd take him over Campbell easily.
I know I've told this story before, but I'm going to repeat it for you.

Sidenote: I do not dislike Cassie Campbell because she is a woman. In fact, in between periods she's fairly bad, but passable. But as colour commentator she is tedious and insufferable.

In that series where, let me remind you, the 8th seeded Avs weren't just beating Calgary, but decimating them in a way that seems to have rattled them ever since. A little like the Kings against my Canucks in 2012.

Game 3 or 4 in Colorado, things have all been going Colorado's way. Let's not forget, this isn't an 8th seed holding on and praying for miracles. They were absolutely dominating the Flames.

As you would expect, Colorado's faithful were going crazy. Cassie Campbell pipes in IN A GAME IN COLORADO THAT COLORADO IS LEADING, "The place is absolutely rocking, and one thing is for sure, there are a lot of Flames fans here too".

Just... I get that your husband is the assistant GM, but Jesus Christ.

A lot is an undefined amount.

A lot could mean herself, her husband, a couple of family members who made the trip, and the Flames players and coaching staff.

It's a total non-sequitur to what is happening in the game, to what is happening in the series, and to what is happening in the crowd. Its asinine.

I think there is a certain charm to Cassie making delusional statements in an effort to stick up for her Flames.

The most important thing for a commentator is to have a voice that people can stand to listen to for 2 hours.

And a female voice, which of course is high pitched, naturally, is not good, you will get tired of it real quick. Therefore female commentators is a bad idea.

You may get tired of "higher pitched" female voices, but not everybody does. Lets not try to pass off your opinion as some kind of fact.

The majority of posters in this thread(and other places online) can't stand her either so ya, it's not just that posters opinion.

Still just an opinion. Like my opinion that I'd rather listen to the highest pitch voice than Kelly Hrudey or Nick Kypreos.

So you think that someone who is really poor at their job and can barely speak coherently at times about it should keep the job as a result of their genitals over someone who is far superior at doing that job regardless of what set of equipment they have in the genital area?

It's not her being bad at her job, friend. It was the incredibly sexist reasons posted.

When I said she’s “Verbal hemorrhoids” I was called out for being sexist. I don’t get that. I’ve said that about Healy too, didn’t like him.

Maybe next time I’ll just keep it simple and say “She’s awful”

That might be less sexist than my other comment, I guess.

You implied she was only hired because she's a woman. That's sexist.

Yes, it would be less sexist.

You may recall a former president seeking of a broadcaster having blood coming from her -- wherever. That was sexiat too, although much more overtly so.
So can you explain how what I said was in any way sexist to her as a woman?

If you’re dissecting what I said, and you’re coming out with me being any way, shape or form sexist. I mean, I don’t even know what to say about that. I’m not, nor have I ever been sexist.

I implied that I knew whey she is there..., I simply stated "oh I know why she is there"...

Your interpretation of what I wrote is the sexist and that is on you.

fact of the matter is that she sucks at her job and should no longer be employed doing it

"Carey Price is the best goalie in the world"

I mean, people can't really believe that right? Dude has been below average for three of the past 4 seasons

only two starters have a worse sv%...jones and saros..dude isnt even top 20 anymore lol

I don’t like her commentary, her voice grates on me, the panel stuff I don’t mind as much. I prefer Kendall Coyne. I’m female for the record.

So not liking color commentators of either sex is sexist? Yeah Ok. You must be fun at parties.
He's being sarcastic.

There's nothing wrong with not liking Cassie Campbell's work, nor that of any other commentator.

The sexism issue come from a litany of posters who say she was only hired because she is a woman; that her voice is too high; that her hair is bad; that her voice is like hemaroids, flatulence or nails on a chalkboard; that women should not be in the broadcast booth for such a manly sport; and that someone who has won Olympic gold medals in hockey but has not played in the NHL is unqualified to call play-by-play for NHL hockey.

Yeah, that last one epitomizes the depth of the discussion. It would eliminate all women from calling play-by-play, as well as eliminate the late great Foster Hewitt, Ward Cornell, Danny Gallivan and scores of other hockey broadcasting legends. It's a rule, I guess, that only applies to women.

None of this, of course, has anything to do with you. All you did was ask, at the time I'm still pissed at all of the ignorant sexist comments I've seen directed towards Cassie Campbell.

No offense taken by anything you've said.

Women can hold sexist attitudes, too. I've seen it in my own profession -- law -- for 38 years or more. Women in the legal profession are still discriminated against, by men and women.

If you don't like Cassie Campbell, that's not sexist.

If you don't like her because of the tone of her voice, that might be sexist. Are you using her male counterparts as the model of what a broadcaster's voice should sound like? If so, you might want to think about that. If not, no problem.
