Is Ottawa good?

I like to think most teams fanbases don't mind us.

The problem is that the two biggest fanbases in the league don't like that fact that a small upstart franchise has popped up in their back yard and has generally been more successful than either of them since entering the league. It makes them look bad.

Ah, fair point. That makes the most sense.

Otherwise it would make no sense to hate small franchises. I could never see myself hating Minnesota or Columbus or Winnipeg....just doesn't really make sense.

Literally none of the three have had much to brag about the last 30 years.. making posts like this pretty cringe.

In Ottawa's entire existence:

0 Stanley Cups
1 Stanley Cup Final appearance (0-1)
3 Eastern Conference Finals appearances (1-2)
7 Second Round Appearances (3-4)
16 First Round Appearances (7-9)
15 Missed Playoffs

Say what you will, but nobody is "jealous" of the Ottawa Senators level of success in their 32 years of existence.
Nobody said anyone is jealous but you so far

If you of all posters think ullmark is going to be done for his career, that makes me very happy as a sens fan. You've never been right about anything in your own life. All you ever know is echo chamber talk of the others. Your name is literally the opposite of what you actually are. Incredible.

Love all the talk how the sens sucked since they were sick and lost a few games. Its amazing how little people understand the dynamics of life.

Got to love Leevi pushing to steal Forsbergs job.

Teams gonna surprise people in this year's playoffs

Been pretty accurate about the Senators missing the playoffs since the waltz thread though. At least I can count on that.

I never said Ullmark is going to be done. I said I wouldn't trust his availability as a starter when he's been a tandem guy/injury prone his whole career. I mean take off the Sens glasses for a second. He's been injured twice in half a season with the Senators so far. What's his expected date of return by the way? Oh right, no one knows.

While the whole league has been accurate on the leafs bowing out in round 1 endlessly.

One playoff round win in 20 years is embarrassing.

That's why I'm hoping for the Senators to make it. The Leafs never lose to the Senators in the playoffs. Get a nice warmup for some momentum in round 2.

Unfortunately, I'm not counting on it. As soon as you think the Senators might make it their players realize they might have to play additional games and go on a losing streak. The Habs/Red Wings likely take WC2. Much better rebuilds.

lol that was 2003/2004, since leafs played the Sens.

But now that you mention that, leafs have won only one round since that time.

How is that even possible? Do you have any explanation for it?

Yeah Ottawa wasn’t in the playoffs for easy first round wins.

3 of the Leafs last 4 first round victories are against the Ottawa Senators. Maybe they just need a warmup round against a weak team.

Looking at the faceoff stats and the lines. Is Stutzle a winger at the draw that lets Giroux take faceoffs, and then switches to center during the play?

Yes. Giroux has taken nearly 3000 face offs with Ottawa and I don’t think he has ever been the center on his line.

I can't see Montreal being jealous due to their similar success if not better since then. But leafs fans have shown jealousy especially with a lack of success in that time-frame.

I'm pretty sure that Toronto fans would love to have an NHL team to cheer for.

You are conveniently forgetting all the pre-NHL Cups Ottawa was awarded and earned. So we've actually got close to a dozen, which explains Leafs fan being so anxious, one more and we tie them after a 60+ year layover from the original team's move to St. Louis.

You are proud of those cups from the 1920s and 1930s eh. Really impacted your fandom.

Oof that’s sad, if that’s what leafs need to win a round.

You could say the same thing for anyone born after a cup win.
Yeah and I would apply the same attitude. One difference would be though getting to hear stories from your Grandparents or Parents stories about cups they witnessed and cheered for that would be exciting and make you a fan which you aren’t getting from any Ottawa Senators cups.

That's not the burn you think it is. Looks like the Leafs are the weak team.

Winning a Stanley Cup 57 years ago in a 6 team league is seen as a very minor accomplishment by 98% of hockey fans. Same as asking what Canadians think of Montreal hosting Expo 67 in 1967. Both were big deals at the time but now they are just little blips in the past.

Columbus and Montreal were some big uphill challenges.
