Mathew’s has two games left to take over this series. Or it will be another failed playoffs for him.
I mean he almost has the Messier haircut going, so they're close ?Fair to say no one is rushing out to compare him to Mark Messier.
People will give him the injury excuse, but he’s never elevated his game and taken over a series in his career. Every year there seems to be a new excuse for him.
He needs to step it up here and keep his teams season alive
They would get bent over trading him. No one wants that loserBeat thing the Leafs could do is trade matthews. Get a haul and bring in some winners.
Thankfully they will never do it.
But he’s the highest paid player in the league - ‘pretty well’ is the bare minimum for any series. He did pretty well against Ottawa and Tampa Bay.
3 goals in last 20 games btwHe did pretty well against Ottawa and Tampa Bay.
Look at this clownthese poor kids look up to this muffin.
I had no idea Auston could play the bongos
You repeat the bolded no matter how many times I've shown that's not true. Matthews scored 1 goal at 5on5 against Bergeron that series you keep referencing. Over two different playoff series versus the Bruins, Matthews has scored 2 goals at 5on5 with Bergeron on the ice.Thornton and Stamkos are worse. As mentioned a dozen times already, Matthews outscores the other team when he’s on the ice, including Barkov and the Panthers.
He had more points than anyone on Tampa both times they met in the playoffs, on top of putting up a defensive clinic many nights.
He scored 5 goals against Boston matched up a lot against Bergeron (also won that matchup).
Had 4 goals in 6 games against the Presidents trophy winning Capitals as a rookie the season before they won the Cup.
3 goals in last 20 games btw
Edit: oops sorry make that 21 games
