Is Matthews the worst playoff performer ever?

Overrated. His post-game tonight was truly embarrassing. Zero emotion. None. Probably thinking about what he's gonna wear tomorrow. Total loser. You can't trade him bc no one wants that loser. Wow. What a disgrace.

He did pretty well against Ottawa and Tampa Bay.
But he’s the highest paid player in the league - ‘pretty well’ is the bare minimum for any series.

To be honest, he didn’t really scare me vs Ottawa when he had the puck on his stick. He finished the series with 2 goals and 7 points which isn’t bad, but it’s hardly taking over a series the way you see guys like McDavid, Rantanen, McKinnon do.

might as well throw this in here

While I don't doubt that he is injured, it is his body language that is surprising to me. I'd be pretty pissed if I am a role player giving it my all and see him coasting out there and or just looking plain bored.

As others have mentioned, you just don't see that from the best, especially in what might be the biggest series for that particular group of guys. It must be maddening as a fan.

Thornton and Stamkos are worse. As mentioned a dozen times already, Matthews outscores the other team when he’s on the ice, including Barkov and the Panthers.

He had more points than anyone on Tampa both times they met in the playoffs, on top of putting up a defensive clinic many nights.

He scored 5 goals against Boston matched up a lot against Bergeron (also won that matchup).

Had 4 goals in 6 games against the Presidents trophy winning Capitals as a rookie the season before they won the Cup.
You repeat the bolded no matter how many times I've shown that's not true. Matthews scored 1 goal at 5on5 against Bergeron that series you keep referencing. Over two different playoff series versus the Bruins, Matthews has scored 2 goals at 5on5 with Bergeron on the ice.

I don't know why you keep repeating this fantasy that Matthews somehow lit up Bergeron. He scored only 1 of his 5 goals against him and over the two years, the lines were even (3 goals for, 3 goals against) when Bergeron was on the ice.

3 goals in last 20 games btw

Edit: oops sorry make that 21 games

Yeah everyone knows he’s not healthy. People just to pile on him as if he is.

Lowest scoring total in his career (including his rookie season and shortened seasons). Was in Germany getting treatment this season, and his wrist shot is significantly slower than it’s ever been in his NHL career.

He’s beat a goalie clean maybe 5 times this year. He did it 50+ times last year. He was missing games since preseason.

The fact Matthews isn’t even taking wrist shots when he had the best wrist shot in the NHL is pretty telling. He’s trying to beat the goalie with one timers like he’s Ovechkin. This has never been his game but when he can’t shoot using his wrist he’s trying to contribute however he can.
