It’s funny how every time he’s bad, he’s “injured”. Is he injured every playoffs because his play nosedives every year. He goes from superstar to 2 way, 2nd line centre like clockwork.
Not arguing that. He has been disappointing. Hes still found ways to produce despite not being able to score. But I also commented on how hes not even shooting the way he should be able to. You can see it in his game.

injury doesn't prevent the very best from performing, look at McDavid last year, he was setting records while hurt, still contributing to the team. When you are paid like these guys are, you have to contribute and be a major part of the team success. A goal scoring not scoring goals isn't good enough.
he was going balls out trying to hit a meaningless personal milestone in games 81 and 82 and had nothing left in the tank for the playoffs. Not captain material.
He had his moments but I just never sensed a consistent,burning desire to win

I mean if thats a stretch you want to make thats fine. Players do push for milestones and 70 goals would’ve been a special one. Maybe Shanahan should’ve marched to the dressing room after 82 and ripped the C right off his chest
