Was pretty messed up when he played like 81 regular season games last year to hit his goals record and then took games off in the playoffs.

Deserves the C for sure though.

Looking at his playoff stats they're not that horrible though. Eye test suggests he ain't really that hard to shut down.

I cant think of a worse example of a skater whose play so consistently drops off every playoffs and I’ve been watching hockey for 30 years.

This guy is supposed to be a superstar and has a C on his jersey now and it’s the same old. 60 goal man in the regular season, 30 goal pace in the playoffs at best. He wasn’t good at 4 nations either.

It’s time to stop making excuses for this guy IMO.

Sure I can. Like I said, I’m not a fan of his performance either.

But not everything is black and white. He’s had series where he’s been our best skater despite the team not succeeding. He’s also had series where he was healthy AND disappointing

This year he's both disappointing and injured. It sucks to see and will likely end up costing the team in the long run. But when arguably the best shooter in the league can’t even shoot the puck properly you know something isn’t right.

People just love to hate and don’t want to discuss anything other than what’s on the surface.

This year he's more like a 30 goal player in the regular season and a 15 goal pace player in the playoffs.

I don't know... this dude just isn't that good when the stakes are high. He always seems to be hurt for some reason and doesn't seem to have the adaptability and willingness to power through and get his goals.

I wouldn't say he's the absolute worst playoff performer relative to talent, but he has to be up there (or down there) with guys like Nash, Thornton, Seguin, Stamkos and Yashin.
