With the 63rd overall pick,

from the Chicoutimi Saguenéens,
RD Alex Huang!

With the 66th pick in the draft, the Blackhawks DO NOT select Daniil Prokhorov because they never wanted him and he sucks and Vegas can have him we don't even care. Instead the Blackhaws will go with their selection that has always been on the top of their board and they were going to even take him at #3 overall but figured he would fall to #66. That mystery player is Theo Stockselius, C, Djurgardens Jr., Swe-Jr.

"We once again call on the Buffalo Sabres, and GM Kevyn Adams, to make the next selection."

The camera comes on, showing the ceiling of a dimly lit room, a single naked bulb lighting the area. "Come ON already. Who even works with dial-up anymore?? Comeoncomeoncomeoncomeon ... ah, okay, there.

"Where's the ... oh, crap, we're on again. JIMMY, what is WRONG with you?? The tripod is on the ground! Just ..."

A blur of movement fills the screen. Then the video reveals a haggard-looking Adams, who is bleeding from a small mark on his temple. His reddened eyes dart furiously around the area. He lifts the same battered notebook close to his face.

"Hi ... umm, yeah, the Buffalo Sabres ... ahh, are pleased to select, from Dynamo St. Petersburg ..."

"Kevyn, please don't say Daniil Prokhorov."

"Daniil ... uhh, what? Oh, why not?"

"He's been chosen, actually multiple times."

Adams lets out a whimper like he has been jabbed with a hot needle. "But I, ... okay -- JIMMY, JIMMY, get down here!!! Can't believe we can't just ... oh, okay." Adams is looking off to one side of the camera. "Uh, alright, from Yekke ... takkin ... Yakka ... from Russia somewhere, Dmitri [Adams closes his eyes and winces] .... Isayev?"

After a pregnant pause during which time nobody has told him that his pick is ineligible, Adams lets out a rattling sigh and quick closes the camera. Sounds of weeping are heard before the sound goes off, too.

Anaheim (@landsbergfan) is up now.

Think with Isayev gone that is every player who would be in my personal final top ~50 gone now... maybe even top 55.

With the 74th selection, the Islanders pick: Picks (Bryce Pickford)

An overager currently on a generational heater in the WHL playoffs: 12 goals (one shy of the WHL single-season playoff record by a defenseman) - including five in the WHL Championship Series alone. Goals in seven straight. We’ll happily gamble on that kind of production.

New York Islanders Selections

1 - 1) Matthew Schaefer, D, Erie (OHL)
2 - 42) Jack Ivankovic, G, Brampton (OHL)
3 - 74) Bryce Pickford, D, Medicine Hat (WHL)

#75: Ludvig Johnson
#76: Bruno Osmanis

Hard to pick those two given how everything fell... no clear cut BPA really in my eyes now.

Instead had maybe 7-8 guys who are all kind of the same level with similar chance of success. Probably two picks that in 5 years you look back on and one of the others you consider ends up the ~#4 Dman or ~40 point NHL forward.

So just went with gut feel on which 2 have the best chance of success...

and now have to wait with heart in mouth for 50 picks hoping one of the other guys I considered here is still there at #122!

The Peacock Theater, Los Angeles, California

*The broadcast returns from break after the last commercial of Keebler Fudge STripes ended. The viewers at home are shown a shot of the current draft board on the big screen. The Abominables' is flashing as they are currently on the clock*

"Welcome back ladies and gentleman." Mr. Freeman warmly said to the audience at home. "I hope you're enjoying a nice glass of cold milk with Keebler Fudge Stripe cookies like I am. I needed a little sugar in my body as a little pick me up. Anyways the newly named Utah Abominables are on the clock as the 3rd round is underway. Let's see what the brass is talking about. Broadcast let's listen in on them"

*The broadcast cuts to the Utah Abs draft table. Where the owner could be heard talking about merchandise ideas still.*

"So what I'm thinking is boys. Everyone's watched the Price is Right here right? Remember the Cliffhanger game? We take idea of a mountain climber and introduce them as the enemy of our loveable Abominables family. I'm going to have the creative team and engineers build this game in the fan zone. Not sure what they'll be guessing about or how to score them on it. But the closer they get to the top of the mountain the better the prizes. Free jerseys, free tickets, free food and free stuffed animals..." Mr. Ryan Smith continued to spout ideas while the rest of the table were focused on hockey decisions.

"So what are we thinking here boys?" GM Bill Armstrong asked.

The rest of the table was muttering amongst themselves not sure what direction to go with their selection. Eventually one of the amateur scouts spoke up.

"Could use a goalie here sir."

"Not a bad idea. Let's go with one of the young guys who's ranked pretty high on consensus. Also he's over here in NA already so we don't have to deal with any contract issues."

Mr. Bill Armstrong leaned into the microphone and pressed the button.

With the 78th pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, the Utah Abominables select Alexei Medvedev.
Utah Abominables Selections
4) James Hagens, C, Boston College (NCAA)
46) Carter Amico, RD, USNTDP (USHL)
78) Alexei Medvedev, G, London (OHL)

@Chinatown88

Isayev I think has higher upside if things go to ~90th centile outcomes and I feel process wise those are the guys who should generally rank higher. But Osmanis is safer. He will be "able" to play NHL one day.

I just realised that all four guys I have taken so far are all 5'10-6'0 and 175-185lbs and very good skaters ahaha. Was not drafting for type ofc, more just who looks most likely to have an NHL impact in such a range.
