And an actual NHL front office, scouting, etc etc etc.

Funny what a commitment to winning will do.

28 games with Georgiev/backups this season. Avs should be leading the Presidents race then. Curious what McDavid and Drais would do if they started every game 0-3 0-4.

I would suggest going to check what happened the last two times the Avs/Oilers played.

The Avs are simply a better run team than the Oilers are at all facets of the game. The Oilers are handicapped by some of the worst management in the league.

It was sarcasm though but I understand the excitement of Oilers fans after seeing Bouchard’s production last playoffs. Despite our GM making the best effort to make this team better with trades he still receives criticism from a little portion of Avs fans. When I compare him to other GMs that either do nothing or makes stupid trades after stupid trades it’s hard to be mad at CMac or should I say formerly named CNap

Yes, I'm sure both teams would have better records with better goaltending. As you can see now with the Avs. Oilers should have upgraded their goaltending, at least by the deadline, but sadly, I'm not the GM.

I think you missed the point, but I'll lay it out for you. You asked what McDavid and Draisatl would do if they started every game down 0-3 or 0-4. ...That's precisely what happened when they played the Avalanche the last two times, and indeed many, many times as of late.

Our inept management is ignored by the media. They've been fed their marching orders to blame the coach/goalie/whoever's most convenient.

When does the narrative start that Drais is dragging a bad team kicking and screaming into the playoffs because McDavid is having an off year? A few more losses from being next to the Flames and Canucks.

For the first six games after the trade, Mac had 1 goal and 5 points and lost his Art Ross lead.

In the last 10 games, Mac has 7 goals and 22 points, including ONE empty net point.

For those want to give Drai an edge due to his goalscoring, then you have to consider Mac's edge in primary assists. McDavid never gets dinged for not being the goals leader given his elite playmaking.

For those who look at EN points, Drai has more 3 on 3 OT points, all but one shared with you know who.

I am not sure that Mac needs that much of a lead in points to beat Draisaitl. His performance since the trade is starting to become a compelling narrative and the Avs have now passed the Oilers in the standings after being behind before the trade.

All one has to do is watch these players, in my honest opinion. I wouldn’t claim it’s not close but MacKinnon is still the better player to me.

Everyone here is way over analyzing empty net points. Last year we all thought it would be a tight race and most leaned towards Kuch. MacKinnon won in dominating fashion and his multiple 30+ point 19 game point streaks had a lot to do with it.

He had Makar (90) and Rantanen (104) last season too. If anything, losing Rantanen this season should give MacKinnon more votes.

Leon obviously has McDavid "only" which IMO will always be held against him, but Matthews won the Hart with 60-46 being 17 points behind McDavid. That year IMO McDavid/Leon cancelled each other out and Matthews won pretty convincingly.

Going off that all, I think Kuch may sneak away with it this year. Its pretty balanced after him for Tampa and obviously he is the common denominator.

So my vote today goes for MacKinnon, then Kuch, then Makar.

I really think the 60-60 argument for Leon is big, but same can be said for Makar if hits 30-70, or even 35-70 which is very possible. 100 points for a dman is massive

Matthews won the hart that year cause at the time 60 goals was a crazy feat that had not been done in 10 years and twice in almost 20 years. Now that 60 goals is the new 50 not nearly as special. If matthews doesnt score 60 in 2022 real good chance he wins with his 69 in 2023

Lol put MacKinnon with McDavid and he would be tearing up the league even more with at least 20 more points than what he has now. Anybody saying the opposite is lying to himself.

And likewise, Draisaitl would have at least 15-20 less points playing away from McDavid.

This year Drai has had a bigger affect on McDavid stats then McDavid has had on Drais stats
