MacKinnon > Kuch is pretty clear to me. I don't think any GM would ever pick Kucherov over MacK.
Exactly. The Hart includes fluid words like "Valuable" and "Voted", which means players are measured on intangibles like character and leadership, along with tangibles like production. Kucherov has the production, but his intangibles continue to be an embarrassment. He blew off the all star game, an event people paid money to come see, because he’s socially uncomfortable? Unlikely. His ego got in the way of him realizing he’s a blessed individual making millions of dollars to play a game and he has an obligation to fans who love and support him.
What a joke to blame it on his introversion. He reeks of a spoiled, bratty, child who wasn’t ever told “no”.
Excuses, excuses. He was being a drunk douche. If he didn’t have so much of an ego he would’ve realized he was being unnecessarily disrespectful.
Kucherov, the introvert. Lol. Imagine criticizing fans for acting like they won the Cup when their team is literally playing for the Cup.Nikita Kucherov: "The fans in Montreal acted like they won the Stanley Cup last game. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? Their final was last round."
Of those 100 assists close to 40 or so were secondary, so how much hardware should you get for displaying an effort 60 times and lazily just clearing the puck and having it bump into a teammate's stick 40 other times?Arguably could have been a Conn Smythe winner in 2021 leading playoff scoring by 9 points.
And today he lost out for both the Ted Lindsay and Hart award.
Considering his lead over other teammates this year, plus getting 100 assists, and having the most points in the league, he ends up empty handed.
He finished with 7 points in 5 games against the Panthers this year, and ended the playoffs with a -1. That is a typical stat line for a team that has Kucherov as their main guy, taking high risk/high reward chances up the ice every time. Its how he has always played, but he came in to the league in 2013-2014 when the lightning was already a contender, and then they eventually became the most stacked team of the salary cap era since the blackhawks, and now we are finally seeing Kucherov on an above average team that isn't making the history books with hall of fame talent surrounding him.Of those 100 assists close to 40 or so were secondary, so how much hardware should you get for displaying an effort 60 times and lazily just clearing the puck and having it bump into a teammate's stick 40 other times?
Kucherov was also invisible in this year's playoffs and....lost to the Leafs, the only team to have lost to the Leafs in the playoffs in decades. Again, why does this merit any praise? I won't even get into the fact that points-based awards should not exist, as they encourage individual play over positioning...
