It's a good thing that the playoffs are played for free then, isn't it?Joe Thornton never had a 11M aav contract.
What makes you say that? It’s not “guess work”, it’s math and statistics.Adjusted stats *are* guess work.. and not great guesses to be honest
The guy you quoted should probably take some time off from this thread.First off, irrelevant, but it is funny that you posted this.
He had a 17% CH... Tavares' is around 14%...
Not sure if you know, but the cap goes up.
A SJ fan talking about rings cups and playoffs numbers is hilarious considering how you guys absolutely laid massive eggs with that good SJ team for like a decade hahahaha.now show his playoff numbers and all the cup rings he's won.

But that has nothing to do with your original statement. You can't just spit your dummy out when someone replies to you and shout "yeah but 1967".now show his playoff numbers and all the cup rings he's won.

You should've just started with that and not fannied around.
Funny coming from a fan of a team that has never won more than 2 rounds ever.A SJ fan talking about rings cups and playoffs numbers is hilarious considering how you guys absolutely laid massive eggs with that good SJ team for like a decade hahahaha.
He looks better this year than last. He's moving better. He doesn't look as slow or sluggish and seems to be handling the puck better.
I still don't want him back next year unless he signs a contract that pays him a lot less than his current deal. Hope TOR makes good use of the cap space that will be freed up when his contract expires.
This really isn't true. The NHL edge data shows he's roughly the same skating wise, if not slightly worse than last year: NHL EDGE Puck and Player Tracking Statistics - Skaters
Tavares has always been a slow player, he's still slow. Not sure why people focus on that so much. His IQ is still elite.
That’s not the only method usedThere are lots of threads pointing out how poorly adjusting by average scoring across the board works.
How do they adjust for eras when ties were in regulationThat’s not the only method used
Yeah it is that.... and that is guesswork. What makes you say that? It’s not “guess work”, it’s math and statistics.
Once his contract is up, thensame miniute they are legit contenders. 9M of that shouldm go for a DHis contract expires next season anyway so it does not matter. I would think the Leafs are walking away from him.
what did you expect? The guy is at the end of a seven year contract. That will have him at 35 years old. Lol your thread is a cheap attempt to stir the pot.
He’s a good player but at 11M, he blocked the Leafs from getting upgrades they actually needed and from winning roundsBack when the Leafs signed him I thought he would have declined much more in the final years of his deal. He’s still a legit number 1 center. He is the second most productive free agent signing of the cap era. Only Panarin put up more points after signing with a new team. Selanne is just a smidge behind him at 3.

I think it will be amusing if TML don’t resign him, spends that money on a Dman, still don’t go deep into the playoffs, and watch Tavares win the cup and Conn Smythe on his new team. The leafs board would be interesting
Statistics are only reliable as long as the inputs are well chosen. See political polls and climate science for evidence of unreliability. If a statistical model is based on faulty assumptions, the data it generates will be misleading or useless. What makes you say that? It’s not “guess work”, it’s math and statistics.
Not true, if anything he put them in a better position to acquire the players they needed because they had a surplus of assets at forward to trade for D and G. It allowed them to trade Kadri, Nylander or Marner and still have enough offence. Unfortunately Dubas just made the wrong trade. Kadri should have been traded for other assets. He’s a good player but at 11M, he blocked the Leafs from getting upgrades they actually needed and from winning rounds
