Taveras has been good in reg season, underwelming in the playoffs like the other cast of characters. He has 24 pts in 38 gp with Toronto in playoffs, for an $11 million player, that’s not good.

I still don't want him back next year unless he signs a contract that pays him a lot less than his current deal. Hope TOR makes good use of the cap space that will be freed up when his contract expires.

This really isn't true. The NHL edge data shows he's roughly the same skating wise, if not slightly worse than last year: NHL EDGE Puck and Player Tracking Statistics - Skaters

Tavares has always been a slow player, he's still slow. Not sure why people focus on that so much. His IQ is still elite.

Fair enough. He seems to have more space and time when he's playing five on five compared to last year. Maybe the new system has something to do with that. I do think he's handling the puck better this year. He seemed to bobble it a lot last season.

The important thing is that he's playing and producing better at ES this season.

He is the second most productive free agent signing of the cap era. Only Panarin put up more points after signing with a new team. Selanne is just a smidge behind him at 3.

I disagree. It is becoming clear Dubas was what prevented it. Brad has had no issues prioritizing the defense and goaltending with the leafs and hiring coaching staff who value it the same way.

Reminder the Leafs are not a rush offensive first team and have not been one for many years. They are currently tied with Dallas for 3rd best in goals against / game and are the best team in the league at limiting high danger chances against.

Again, if anything Leaf fans have just asked for change after 8 years of similar seasons. Not sure why that deserves to be mocked. People love to mock the other side of it (Leaf fans cheering for the same team planning the parade). Maybe folks just will use whatever excuse to take shots at the Leafs?

Statistics are only reliable as long as the inputs are well chosen. See political polls and climate science for evidence of unreliability. If a statistical model is based on faulty assumptions, the data it generates will be misleading or useless.

Not true, if anything he put them in a better position to acquire the players they needed because they had a surplus of assets at forward to trade for D and G. It allowed them to trade Kadri, Nylander or Marner and still have enough offence. Unfortunately Dubas just made the wrong trade. Kadri should have been traded for other assets.
