Is Jimmy Vesey Completely Useless?

Some should have told Korpisalo That.

Hell, Tampa was two bad bounces are from being down 3-0 to a team they were utterly dominating with that maniacs 95.60 save %. I dont think Tampa's team play was the issue, it was Korpisalo playing the 2 weeks of his life before coming down to earth....and now he's back to his usual average self since then. Vasy made the saves he needed to at the right times though and Tampa won the series of all 1 goal games.

Korpisalo put on a clinic, he had 60+ saves against us, damn near 90 saves in a single game vs Tampa. Jackets had no business being in either series, Korpi was the mvp.

Shots were around 30 each ... each team had 2/3 10 beller chances ... Matty had best chance of all playoffs ... watch da save on Matty (definition of 10 bellers in dictionary) by Korpisalo ... you can call it whatever you want we got beat by a flubbed wrister which Freddy flubbed plain and simple ... better gaoler won

Korpisalo also let in muffins in the series but that's overlooked so we can make Andy the scapegoat and make ourselves feel better about losing in the playin round to a mediocre team .

as i said in a previous post , our goaltending was more than good enough to win the series and i'm getting tired of the same excuse that the opposing goalie always goes into god mode and that's we why lost

we just shut out Edm in b2b games and while i thought both goalies played well i give more credit to the team D in front of them and on the flip side we were about a minute away from being shut out b2b by Calgary and people crying Rittich looked like a Vezina winner

sometimes it's not not just the goalie playing well but the team limiting the high quality chances against them and what i mean by limiting the high quality chances is it isn't simply limiting a shot from a certain zone but more limiting the endless odd man rushes and breakaways like we did against Edm

I was talking about game 1 ... did u see Korpisalo's full out splits stretch out to max and then max glove extension grab on Matty's snapper from da kill zone???????? ... if u just watch video i posted u can see for yourself ... there is no discussion here ... video is fact ... our guy gave up game winner on a flubber wrister from outside at top of circle between his chest and arm ... enough said ... Korpisalo beat Freddy and beat him badly
 
I'm not sure why Vesey is taking so much shit. He hasn't been "good" by any stretch of the imagination, but he's just kinda there and I don't find myself getting angry with him at all.

Having guys who can take a few uneventful shifts at the bottom of your roster is fine.

Why is that ok ?
Why can’t we strive to have the best line up in every single position possible , every time , every year , no matter what ...
I just don’t understand that mentality
They are players on our team that can have an impact at any given time ..
Why settle when we don’t have to
This isn’t a ball hockey weekend sport
This is the NHL the best league in the world !!!
Our team our Leafs deserve to look for , bring up , trade for the best players in every single position no matter what ...
We gave him plenty of chance here ..
I’m sure our terrific management team have a plan , I’m really sure , I have great confidence in them , I really do , but this narrative that I hear sometimes about “ oh he’s just a 4th liner “ I don’t get

Especially since he's clearly the odd man out when Simmonds comes back.

Not to mention if Robbie and Anderson really start demanding a spot.

1 game does not make a guy good ... but clearly 1 good game Keefer kept him in over Barabanov with 2 good games and a bad one last game ... Keefer knows best ... his judgment has been excellent and he makes decisions period to period which we saw last game ... but as pointed out once Simmonds gets back both are gonzo

I am glad neither Barabanov or Lehtonen has requested a return home plan ... injuries will factor in here and great to have both guys as backup plans

Neither scores... well Vesey just did, but really any offense from either of them is just a bonus.
Barabonov has three times the rate of giveaways over Vesey. Vesey is throwing more hits/60. Vesey is killing penalties.
I'm disappointed Vesey didn't click offensively with Tavares and Nylander, but that line had also stopped cheating defense for offense. They looked lost with or without Vesey.
Vesey is a boring, non-impact, but safe player to have on the fourth line.

Playing well of late, but the over under of his ass hitting the ice is 2.5 times every game.

Would love to see him get the hatty to send Oil Country (or whatever they are called) off da head!!
 
Vesey always played smart defensively. Got us going tonight. Useful. I hope he has fun because everything starts with enjoyment

I would say Boyd is the odd man out when Simmonds returns. Vesey is the odd man out if we get a UFA addition and we don't trade a guy like Engvall.
 
Great game tonight, still very well could be useless let’s see what he does next game.
